EVO 7/8/9 MAF vs EVO 10 MAF signal
EVO 7/8/9 MAF vs EVO 10 MAF signal
I see that the EVO 7/8/9 MAF is the usual Mitsubishi Karman Vortex sensor that outputs a variable frequency signal.
The EVO 10 sensor is some sort of drop-in thingy, instead of the usual composite tube with a honeycomb.
What dies it return, electrically? Similar frequency signal, or something else (like a 0-5v logic signal) or what?

1. It is easier to manufacture a hot wire (Evo X) MAF vs. the Karman vortex MAF (Evo 8/9), so lower cost and Mitsu make more profit.
2. A hot wire MAF has more linear operating characteristics than a Karman MAF which means that low speed operation and engine idle have better fuel calibration (= lower hydrocarbon emissions) and you have a smoother driving experience.
3. The hot wire MAF has less cross sectional area, therefore less restriction to air flow into the engine, which means more potential power.
