Benefits of upgrading from an E5 ECU to an E8?
Hello! I've got a 1998 Evo 5 CP9A with the stock ECU running CEDDY rom. Was trying to find information about swapping to an EVO 8 ECU. All of the information I have found seems to be fairly old, (before the 5's could be changed using ECU flash). Is it still worth it to upgrade to a 7 or 8 ECU? What benefits would this give me? I know that if I go to a USDM 8 ECU that it would allow me to use a standard OBDII reader but is that the only gain I would be getting or are there other things that I would be able to use? I have seen a few threads about the actual wiring swaps which doesn't look too daunting, really just wondering if it was even worth it at this point or if I should just stick with my stock ECU. Thanks in advance.
Help is on the way @jetjockeyjosh @Biggiesacks
I'm not really sure what all features ceddymod has for your ECU. You should take a look at https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...hramod-v7.html and see if there are features you are looking for available.

I have been thinking about switching over to the tephramod. With Ceddymod I have my launch control, NLTS and dual mapping set up. I have heard something about a live change feature but I’m not sure if that is specific to a certain rom or if it is ecu dependent. Thanks for the link.
