Knock Reading using FC Commander
When viewing the KNOCK READING on the FC COmmander, it this reading the Knock Sensor reading or ACTUAL KNOCK... isnt the engine supposed to make a significant noise if it is knocking. I am using 91+100 octane and sometimes I still get high knock readings. Anyone have any similar experiences?

I hit 60 a few times when I put on my downpipe and the boost went over 1.6. Now with boost set to 1.5 bar, I rarely see more than 10. If I run it hard to 7500 rpm, I might see 20 or so.

There's a whole bunch of cars here in the states running that or more. I don't get excessive knock or high EGT and it doesn't run too lean.

PFC and knocking
Hi! I'm new in here, ...
The fact about knocking is that knock sensor is a kind of microphone, it listen the noise in the engine. The knocking noise is very difficult to hear when driving or huge knock and quiet exhaust ...
Knock sensor is reliable at middle rpm range (2000-6000rpm) .
If knock is moving between 10 to 20 while accelerating, it is ok (it's even wanted, mean performance setting). When there is real knock it pass directly to 45-80 and it is real knock (60 that is set in PFC a little to high...).
If you run with a lot of boost and regarding to the "approximative" map enter in the PFC you might have knock while the boost is rising (mean 3000-3500rpm with stock turbo) it mean too lean A/F ratio because PFC as short injection timing parameter and also high spark plug advance (sometimes crazy in genuine PFC map).
A complete remap with datalogit and professionnal lambda meter is the only solution to keep maximum cylinder pressure and temperature at correct levels.
After that boost is not the problem and 1.5bar stabilized (maximum for genuine turbo at high rpm) is correct and give around 360ps very reliable.
Enough fuel with walbro + fuel regulator but of course why using a PFC if it's not to change injectors...
A good setting for lancer evo 5-8 is PFC remaped, Pump and injectors, exhaust line, 20G turbo kit ... give 390ps with 1.0bar and 445ps with 1.3 bar ... reliable!
Something to think about...
PS: sorry for my poor english level!

I turned the boost down significantly and it stops knocking above 60+. Also higher octane helps even out the crap gas in California - I guess they did a bad job about tuning my car the last time they did it, great MORE tuning expenses!

i run 1.5....with cams and head studs.,....new injectors because stock was maxing out....als i only get knock when i am cruising part throttle then gas it....but it only reaches 63...you may need to back some timing out...make a trace map and see when it is knockin...

Why not to put your IGN and IJN maps online ... I will be maybe able to give advice if it's because IGN map or INJ map or both ...
Anyway 60 or 63 or even 40 while acceleration is NOT good !!! it mean there is real knock, mean very high combustion chamber pressure that try to brake the engine!
Be careful on correct Air fuel ratio and max cylinder pressure (mean IGN settings), because when it knock your engine take more in his head than if you were running 2.35bar well set...
