logging egt with tuner pro

What is needed to do this. I read in their advertisement this is possible. I want to know what I need to buy to make this happen. I'll probably order this week.Do you have to have the utec also to make that work. I don't want a utec yet, just the tuner box with knock and a/f.

No.. you don't need the UTEC to log EGT with the tuner.. In fact, as far as I can tell, the current firmware for the Tuner only passes the AFR to the UTEC's data logs..

However, the Tuner can log RPM, Boost, one or two sensors, EGT and a few other things, it can produce a 1v or 5v output O2 signal that you can pass to your O2 sensor (Presumably to use it in place of your primary O2 sensor, however it requires other mods to the stock sensor wiring to work otherwise you'd get a CEL)

I have suggested to TurboXS in the past that they append the Tuners EGT value to the UTEC logging in the same way it does for AFR.. I find it would be VERY useful for tuning since AFR's dont tell the whole story, especially when dealing with ignition timing.

I think EGT Thermocouple is a type-K however I never got any specific information from them about it..

So it sounds like I could buy a autometer egt kit and wire the thermocouple to the tuner input and then have the tuner pass the signal on to the gauge? Is there a convenient place to mount the tuner or do you just plug it in and use it when you need to do some tuning? Might it fit in the glove box? Thanks!!!

Hm, so with an egt probe utec+tuner would be able to log egt?
I'm very interested. Would it be possible to use an existing probe to split to both tuner and gauge?

He said you don't need the utec for any logging.

Yeah, but I'd love to have the EGT appended to the end of the utec log, lets say after AFR. It would mean alot because I could make some test runs and get a baseline and then tune the AFR and the egt gauge to alarm when it gets nasty.

the EGT doesnt currently show up in the UTEC logs.. I'd like to see them revise the firmware to append it.

I'm not sure what the correct thermocouple is, however the type-K is the most common.. And its possible to wire up a gauge and the Tuner to the same sensor.. But I've never tried it so I can't tell you if it would work.

In order to use the Tuner to log EGT, AFR, Boost, and RPM those sensors would have to be connected to the tuner (and the RPM signal connected)

Remember, the Tuner can operate completely on its own, when used with the UTEC it passes through the AFR to the UTEC's logs.. I'm hoping TXS comes through and also appends EGT to that if you have the sensor.

Jack, maybe you can make my (and maybe someone elses) life a bit easier... I know you were working on a GUI frontend for the UTEC...
So if we get the EGT added to the UTEC logs, would you consider building in some alarming to your GUI so I (we?) can skip the expensive gauges purchasing?
I can see lining up already

Actually if they add the feature, I'd have the dashboard updated in a day or two.. Alarms are great if you have audio hooked up to the computer, so I plan on using them..
