Blow'd it
When I pull the head off is it going to screw with the timing and am I going to have to set it again? Will this be ok to do without pulling the block, just pulling the pan, head, and push the pistons up and replace them? (as what Rob, from rrm, told me)
I got the pistons installed this past weekend. I should get the head back either friday or monday. Then the fun begins with putting it back together and running again. I haven't had my car for almost 2 months and I really mis being able to drive it. I'm looking forward to driving it again.
In another post wasn't it you that said you were running the wrong plugs?? That piston is messed up bro.
Take the head to a shop and have it gone thru... should cost about 200 bucks. Clean up the side of the cylinder with some scotchbrite and ensure there is no rough edges. If there's no rough edges just hone it 2-3 times to freshen it up and get the cross hatch back in it. Clean everything up and slap a new piston in there. Just get one from mitsu if you hurting for cash. They are about 80 bucks i believe. Rings are about the same i think... been a long time since i did stock piston work. Anyway with that cylinder up you should be back in business. Just break in the motor for about 500 miles.
Wish you had checked your compression out to ensure the other cylinders were ok. They usually go in pairs. Good luck.

I have RRM pistons installed and a guy that builds our race engines is doing my head, free. I cleaned up the cylinder wall using muriatic acid which ate the aluminum off the wall then I took some worn out scotch brite pads and went over it. I'm just waiting on the head now.

I did the piston install myself and put the whole thing together solo. A guy I know did all the head work on it. He didn't do anything else besides that. I just finished putting it all back together about 30 minutes ago. I just hope everything will be cool.
Nice to hear you're back up man. good luck with running that thing. I had to redo mine with my dad, and i got someone else to replace the valves and refinish the head. Looks like i got away with more than you did.. my walls were in prestine condition.
Anywayz.. good luck keep us updated.

Yeah I wouldn't try do the head work myself. I'd much rather have someone who I trust and someone who knows what the heck they are doing work on it. My friend charged me the cost of the parts and shipping only to fix it and it looked grest when I got it back.
By the way, I forgot how soft our clutches were until last night when I went to start the car. It feels like absolute crap compared to the clutches in our race cars.

So you got your car back with the turbo and everything installed and running great? And you realized the clutch is too soft for your setup? Wow, your setup must be screaming!
