Blow'd it

I was driving around the other day and everything was fine. Then when I was almost home it went. The road right around the corner from my place is this long straight road, so of course I gotta give it a little. About half way down the road the car surged and I heard this noise from the engine. I then let up and turned. When I went back to the gas there was nothing there. No power at all! Sucks. I went slow the rest of the way and parked at my place. When I parked the engine wouldn't idle at all and when I gave it a little gas I heard this noise from the engine. It sounded like a metal piece was bouncing around inside and it quit. I talked to Rob today and he told me that a piston, or more, gave out and it was a piece of the piston is what I heard. Now I have to replace those. Too bad I don't have enough money to fix it right now since they are so expensive! Anybody out there have a set or know where I can get a set for a good price. Otherwise it's going to be sitting here for a while I wait for some money! Oh yeah, I suggest that anyone who has a Turbo XS boost controller to get rid of it. I just put one on and it was working fine but according to Rob, they are ****, and possibly the one I had put on moved at some point in time when I wasn't looking and it overboosted. I looked at it yesterday while I was driving and it was all cool but who knows.

ask HK, he may have some extra parts laying around his garage or some place. At worse, he points you somewhere else.

Anyone else got a set of pistons they wanna get rid of or where I can get a good set for a reasonable price. None of those stock ones though!

look into getting some hypereutectic pistons from RPW instead, they are cheaper then forged pistons and cheape than anything RRM would sell and they will be handle more boost than you would need, forged pistons really arent necessary to replace with.

i dont know exactly how much, but they are cheaper than forged pistons and i believe rpws rates for forged pistons are cheaper than rrms so it should be considereable less than forged pistons id assume, just send mitsiman a pm and email, waiting a couple days is no bog deal.

RPW has them for around US$500 incl rings, depending on how available the compression you want is.... crnesst- you might as well go with a lower CR piston as long as you're replacing them.... and stronger rods, too. yous can gets more boost!

ok thanks for the info, see 200 cheaper is awesome. i wouldnt run higher boost without an intercooler tho. rods is something that really isnt too necessary until you are running really high boost which he probably will never get close to.
