good luck, you're looking at more than 6k just to keep up with a stock evo my friend. stop dreaming and be real. put your hard earned money into something more realistic, like buying an evo and hang with the likes of: cobra gt's, c5, and even other exotics like the carera n/a. mod it a little bit and have all of the above for breakfast, now you're playing. as for insurance issues don't you think you wouldn't have any problems if they (the ins. company) find out that you've altered your car (turbo'd/nos'd) and face a higher rate? and still end up with a car that is barely catching up with the evo. and always remember speed/handling/stopping goes together to create a fast and "reliable" car.

 

What's with all these EVO owners in the USDM Lancer threads?? I know they have their own forums, and if our cars suck so much then why do they come into these forums?

thinking about this again, the question of modding your car shouldn't be about keeping up with an evo - it should be about customizing your car in a manner which you are proud of.

Will your 2004 lancer es ever be as good/fast/agile as an evo .. probably not. BUT .. you can take that car and make it your own with whatever modifications YOU choose to do. Thats the great thing about cars - you can take a stock car and have fun with it by modding it in a way which shows your personality and makes it more powerful and fun to drive.

Don't worry about beating evo's or wrx's or sti's or srt-4's .. or whatever car .. worry about having a fun, reliable car which you enjoy driving. Nuff said.

 

Yes, there are many ******** EVO owners so it does get old when they come here and start talking ****... Must make EVO owners feel good to rip on other people's cars...

 

and to stick up for the the evo guys ..... to lancer owners, don't tell me that if you drove a AWD, turbo car pushing 250+ to the wheels, you wouldn't have a ****-eating-grin on your face. You'd definatly want to let others know how fun of a car it is to drive and they should get one, if its possible.

while the general statement of "get an evo - dont waste your money" does get old .. they have a point.

however, jpslancer does have a 04 lancer ES (which he or she probably recently got) and it may not feasable to get an evo or doesn't want one. with that in mind, constructive information as to how he can improve the current ride is what he's looking for. We should help with that.

were not being mean or asses.. we are just speaking the truth. think of the amount of money ur have to spend to get the things the evo has stock. brembos, stiffer chassis, 4wd drive train, a tranny that can hold 600 hp stock, an motor that can hold 600 hp on stock internals, hids, alluminum fenders and hood, the carbon fiber wing, the advans, fmic, and recaros. there are just too many things the evo comes with stok.

hey dumbass, no need for that, we're just stating some facts to save your buddy some $ and headache down the line. to spend 6k or more just to say you're able to race an evo is really a waste, so stop dreaming and start living.

 

If you would notice my first post where I said that he would not be able to hang with EVO's and STI's but that he could hold his own against any ricer's out there.... The point that you are making has already been made by not an EVO owner, but a Lancer owner and we don't need it to be put in such terms as... "My car is better than yours". Please, lets stop the flame war an get back on topic.

OKay.... He said he wanted his ES to beat an EVO... But if you also notice, this is a newbie who probably doesn't know any better yet. He already has an '04 ES and there is little chance that he will drop the major $$ and trade it in for an EVO. He has $6000 to spend to make the car better and to make it unique. Now lets get some good constructive critisism and advice other than the assinine statement "Just get an EVO".

I still say a well modded Lancer gets more respect than a Stock EVO any day simply because it takes skill and know-how to mod a car.

 

Take your hard earn $6k and get a 4g63 swap, reinforce the internals, upgrade the tranny, fabricate a fmic, upgrade your brakes, you'll need new tires, purchase a stand alone or some kind of piggy back to tune it all!! You willl also need to save some cash for the dyno if you want to tune it properly and save a little mor cash for the extra parts that will blow..........yeah well worth the money

 

You're not the only who has considered putting the cash for a turbo to match an Evo. RRM's is $4100 and claims to get you 230HP. I look at it this way, I'm paying $12000 for my ES, add in $4000 for the turbo and it's $16000... still less than a Ralliart but more power.

Then again I've driven my friend's Evo and want it bad.

this has to be the stupidest thread ever, who in their right mind would drop 6K in an ES. That has to be the bets way to **** money down the drain possible. Get a effing evo please, and dont waste your damn money.
