How to spend 6,000 on my 04 lancer Es

OKay.... He said he wanted his ES to beat an EVO... But if you also notice, this is a newbie who probably doesn't know any better yet. He already has an '04 ES and there is little chance that he will drop the major $$ and trade it in for an EVO. He has $6000 to spend to make the car better and to make it unique. Now lets get some good constructive critisism and advice other than the assinine statement "Just get an EVO".
I still say a well modded Lancer gets more respect than a Stock EVO any day simply because it takes skill and know-how to mod a car.

It might not take skill to mod a car but it is directly linked to how much a person cares about their ride. Sometimes, I read what some Evo owners have to say about our Lancers and it makes me sad for you guys. To some of you it's all about a competition about who is better. I could give two left nuts about who has the better ride, mine is always going to be best because it's mine.

Amen! Good preaching!
IT's not the car that should get the respect... any person with 35K can buy and EVO, but alot of those people don't like to mod cars. I chose to MOD a Lancer because I already own a 50k Infiniti that is my expensive stocker that the wife won't let me touch (as far as modding), and the Lancer is simply something that I have to Mod and have fun with. The engines are cheap and if you Turbo and Blow it apart then it is cheaply replaced. I don't want a race car just one I can enjoy modding and do it relatively cheap.
I am not Saying the EVO is not an awsome car, just that if you want props from me, a stock car simply won't do.

Bro, my 2 cents. Coming from a fellow military member.
Sell your lancer now before you get deployed. Save that extra cash that you would've otherwise have been paying for your lancer. Along with that 6k. Bank as much tax free/Haz Pay cash as you can while you're overseas. When you come back over. Hopefully, you'll have well over 10k saved that you can drop a good down payment for whatever car you want.
Stay safe!

1) I didn't say YOU were a ********, but hey , now I will...
2) You're trying to save him money? Oh yeah right, he's gonna save money buying an EVO, a car that costs twice as much as the car he already has and then has to pay triple the insurance? What an ignorant statement.
I chose to buy the Lancer before the EVO was even here in the states. My car is fully paid for and my insurance is dirt cheap. I like to mod cars. It's fun. It's a hobby. My car is unique and I get a lot of compliments. I may not be able to beat EVO's and WRX's but I sure can hang with them... thanks for making my statement look even more true.

I have PIAA hyperwhite's all around, they make the bluish tint...
I have hyper white bulbs, which when viewed head on the blue is reflected onto the mirrored surface. But as for the turn signal, it looks like you took out that amber colored disc and replaced it with a blue disc.
Sorry to stray off topic.
I see everyone on this thread *****ing about the high insurance on the EVO. I had a 2004 se-r spec v before the evo and my girlfriend was rear ended and it was totalled. I am actually only paying $6 more a month for the evo than the se-r. And before I bought my evo I bought a brand new STi, loan fell through though, and before I left the lot I had to call and add it to my policy and it was $9 cheaper a month than the STi was gonna be. By the way I am very happy that the loan fell through on the STi, I love my evo. I pay 1700 every 6 months for 4 cars on a policy and the evo is 480 of that, so that's $80 a month for the EVO.

There's a whole world of things you can do to improve the US Lancer. Do what you believe that's in the best of your interests. For me, autocrossing is a good way to go to determine what you need as far as power and handling goes. No two people are alike.
If you're a highly skilled mechanic or know someone who is, why don't you research the attributes of the Nissan SR20DET. I've been seeing people put that engine into all kinds of cars, not just the 240SX. That would be rather interesting to see US Lancers move in a way no one ever thought would be possible.
Why was I thinking this? Somewhere in this thread there's a photo of a Honda Civic with a 4G63 engine underneath the bonnet. I'm thinking, it would be worth while for someone whose daring to try it out.
also...
`SOME Evolution owners may come into these threads because they wanna make themselves feel better by trying to sell us an Evolution. If it helps you sleep at night then by all means, have at it. No commission is being made off of it. Why even bother? Do you go into Team Integra or 3SI.org messageboards trying to sell the Evolution? Try it! You'll get the same reaction you get here. The topic is about someone wanting to spend X amount of cash. Apparently, that X amt. doesn't translate into 28,995. For being an Evolution owner, you aren't very bright. Respect the soldiers dream if you post on this particular topic. Afterall, him being in the military, he's defending the freedom of you owning that Lancer Evolution of yours as well as all of us owning our own cars.
I'm not trying to be rude. But please, I get sick and tired of hearing that same "Just buy an Evo" jargon. I bet if you chose to do a search on "Buy an Evo" topic, you'll find alot more of those than some people wishing to spend X amount of cash on their car. Our Lancers graced the US soil first. Some of us decided to make the change. Some of us didn't. I happen to be one of those few who didn't.
Man, I'm beginning to see the Lancer Evolution the same way I see the Oakland Raiders. Great team, retarded fans.
Just my opinion. That's all. Carry on...
