See if anyone can do a 4g63t swap for your car for fwd. Save money for tires-you'll be needing them!Originally Posted by jpslancer

not trying to be rude, but the fastest us lancer runs mid 13s, stock evos run mid 13s just my $.02
Word. Money better spent this way. You could spend 12k on the ES and still wind up with 1/2 of an EVO.Originally Posted by BYBYSTI

NOS baby, NOS! ... just kidding - dont do nos.
for 6k .. i'd say either look into a 4g93 swap, or get a stage 2 turbo kit from RRM .. thats gonna get you some serious HP for a car which is lacking on HP.

I'd either sell my ES and buy a ralliart or an evo, or I'd get the turbo kit from RRM as well some suspension, transmission and wheel upgrades.
I'd think you'd need more than 6k to have the baddest lancer in the US. Use that money to upgrade your car. By the time you return, the 06's will be out (Evo IX), and the parts market for the Ralliart will have matured (at least I hope so). If you're dead set on keeping your ES, then a stage 2 kit would take most of that $6k, with some change leftover to work on your suspension.

The 4G93 is a Mirage 1.8L engine.
Go to the US lancer general section where you will find more threads like this one on how to spend your money.
And please...EVO guys the fastest 4G94 lancer is in Puerto Rico and he is running 12's.
There are at least 2 other major built US lancers that have yet to do any runs so watch out.

gah!!! enough already, it's not as simple as using the money on an Evo, the 6K will only help you out at the stealership, not when you have to pay the higher insurance, buy more fuel, and go through (more expensive) tires. Take the money, invest in something, or if you still want to spend it on the car, do suspension mods, and a turbo-kit, make it look good, it'll never be fast though

It can be fast... maybe not a race car, but if you are looking for a fast everyday A to B type of car then do a turbo. A stage two gets around 230 whp with out any other major engine mods. You will be more than happy with that and though you can't hang with the EVO's and STI's very well, you'll hold your own against any ricers out there. Enjoy the Lancer, mod it and make it your own!Originally Posted by twardOZRally

To simply buy an EVO is not worth it to me because of high insurance and the fact that you'd end up leaving it stock because all your money is gone.... Bone Stock cars =
EDIT: Oh yeah... Good luck in Iraq, we all owe a great bit to our troops for fighting for our country and standing up for freedom

don't flatter yourself, i'll spend the 10-15k on lancer es, oz, whatever, and then spend the remaining money to match the price of a stock evo and run with it any day of the week. if you would think about it, he will get maybe 8k for his es, plus that 6,000 dollars, not to mention the rest of the money he will need to pay off the evo and how much insurance will be. pointless, especially if he is young. 6,000 in your lancer = a turbo set up of your choice (im biased to road race motorsports so im goign to recommend that) forged internals if you really want to get crazy, that will get you boosting to around 15 psi. if you don't want to go crazy with internals i would run 9-10 psi on stock internals making sure that your within safe perameters of the motor, and then dump the rest into a coilover set up and stiffen up the chassis with tie bar, sway bar, and strut bars.Originally Posted by dsmythe2
