All I want to know is where are the moderators.

This is time enough that EVO owners get warned for bashing on us here and spoiling the discussions of truly serious topics. You could easily delete these posts and clean up the threads.

It simply is not fair.

Well I understand both sides of this story as I am trying to go through the process of goin from my lancer to an evo. And for you evo guys who are bashing on the lancer guys for "wasting their time and money" you really need to back off because you guys are not taking into an account all the price diffrences between the two cars. Not to mention that these two cars are made for completely diffrent purposes and to try and compare them stock vs. modified is just ignorant. In no way will the lancer ever be close to performing like an evo with any resonable amount of money this is true and a big reason why I'm getting an evo, but let's look at this economically. First off price tags... $30,000 for the 05 evo and i got my oz for $13,000; thats $17,000. On a three year loan with 0% APR you are paying over 5,500 a year more than a lancer OZ. Insurance is gonna be about $3000 more a year on the evo than my lancer is right now for me thats 250 dollars a month right there... THATS ABOUT EQUAL TO WHAT MY LANCER PAYMENTS WERE PER MONTH. Gas mileage... Well 10 mpg more on the lancer than the evo and thats being generous because when you're on the pedal and in boost the evo guzzles that 91+ octane gas like theres no tommrow with its super rich stock fuel curve, and lets not even get into a modified evo's gas mileage. If you drive 10000 mi a year at $2.00 a gallon that means you are paying $1000 more per year for gas alone (not taking into account the $.20 more a gallon it is for 91 over 87 octane gas). All in all I could go on with the list but I'll spare you guys because this post is long enough but thats (generously) 9000 dollars a year in my pocket on a lancer vs the evo... And you put 7 of that into the lancer it will be PLENTY FAST with two still in your pocket.

Come on guys honestly we have enough bashing from all the other car company's enthusiasts, can we please quit arguing between lancer owners? Some evo owners are very quick to overlook that their car was built upon the lancer platform your breed didnt come first, it's like bashing on your mother, she gave you life so be respectful of her. It really makes us look bad in the end, we are all car enthusiasts who cares if you can get from point a to point b two seconds faster than our fastest lancer? You want a cookie?

I think this argument of "you should have saved your money" or "put your money into an evo" is like a ferrari, BMW, or mercedes owner telling an evo owner "your cars a piece of crap, you should have saved your money up". How would you like a skyline owner, or an FQ-400 or a STi spec C owner coming onto your thread and telling you to just put your money onto a "better car"? The fact is some people don't have the money to afford the increased insurance and finance rates, let alone the extra gas the evo uses. I'm sure none of the present evo owners are guilty of this, but if you got your car bought for you, you have no right to tell someone else to "save their money and buy something better". Note this is simply a warning to potential posters. Oh and don't forget, if your under the age of say 25, an evo really isn't the right car, I'm 19, and I know if I had an evo, I'd rack up stupid amounts of speeding tickets, and would probably end up having to drive a civic for a couple of years just to keep my license. If you have an evo, good for you, but try to keep the comments constructive.

jpslancer,

Don't waste your money, $6000 will only get you not even half way from where you want to go, a lancer es with $6k gets you nowhere.

Think about this:

Traction problems(FWD)
Clutch failure
Skinny tires and rims
underpower brakes for the job
awfull suspension
unreliable power
weeks perhaps months wasted looking for the right parts, right labor, right shop, right prices
looking for a good shop/tunner

After all the EVO will still be faster..

For real man, sell your lancer use the $6k and pitch a couple of grand and get the real thing, you won't regret. Just getting the power of the EVOVIII will run you more than half ($3k) not you have $3k to keep up on many other things that the EVO V8 has and yours doesn't.

It is not worth a dime, don't do it man!!

god damnit!!!! stop posting **** like that. It's not JUST THE ****ING PRICE OF THE CAR THAT KEEPS US FROM BUYING AN EVO DAMMIT!!!!! ****ING READ THE PREVIOUS POSTS!!!!!

Think about this:

lower fuel economy
higher parts cost
more expensive tires
faster wear on said tires
high insurance

can a mod just close this thread?

or maybe us lance guys should go start b!tching in the Evo threads about how they have to pay so much more for those things?

2) You're trying to save him money? Oh yeah right, he's gonna save money buying an EVO, a car that costs twice as much as the car he already has and then has to pay triple the insurance? What an ignorant statement.

I chose to buy the Lancer before the EVO was even here in the states. My car is fully paid for and my insurance is dirt cheap. I like to mod cars. It's fun. It's a hobby. My car is unique and I get a lot of compliments. I may not be able to beat EVO's and WRX's but I sure can hang with them... thanks for making my statement look even more true.

You forgot about the "report this post" button, didn't you? Luckily, someone else remembered. And as a moderator, I think I'll enjoy the last word on some of the sorry comments said on both sides of this pathetic thread, then leave it in Off Topic since it's the funniest but most useless sh*t I've seen on this forum in months!

1) When someone comes onto a forum and says "How do I make my econobox faster than an Evo?" nobody should be surprised that the Evo owners are gonna chime in, and not in the nicest ways. I knew there would be flames from the first post.

2) There ARE a number of Lancers that beat Evos. They do exist, I've seen it done and congratulate the drivers for their accomplishments. HOWEVER, that's pretty much the end of the line for the Lancer, and just the beginning for the Evo. Apples to oranges.

3) Why do all these Lancer owners want to beat an Evo? Even if you accomplish that, the Evo could go and get more mods. Like I said, apples to oranges, who cares if you beat a STOCK car. Too many video clips of a totally gutted and turboed Civic beating grandpa in his stock Corvette I guess.

4) Why does everybody tell Lancer owners to buy an Evo? I would like to buy a sportscar some day, but it won't be a top heavy 4 door. Not that I don't respect the car, it's just that I bought a 4 door Lancer as transportation, and would like something a little less practical for a toy.

5) To the person who said inrusance is not very expensive on the Evo, $480 a month is very expensive. I'm paying $130 a month for my Lancer and I live in Los Angeles, there's only 2 other cities in the US that I know have higher rates than us!!! 480-130 = 350 = half of my pay check.

6) To the person who said trade your Lancer in for an Evo ON THE 4TH PAGE, wow! that was such an original idea, where did you ever think that one up?

7) Does anyone really like reading me flame everyone on this forum? If so, I'm totally shocked! CLOSED
