Another exhaust question

Ok another question regarding my exhaust setup. As from the other thread Ive recently upgraded to a new flowmaster exhaust and have lost about 40 miles to a full tank of gas. Could too much airflow be the problem.

Thanks

Also I was thinking of switching out to a magnaflow muffler since ive heard so many good things about those.

This will just be an axleback just for more info.

Flowmaster is crap. Get Magnaflow. Sounds a million times better. Probably won't make a pants-shltting difference.

Ive lost a good amount of gas mileage with the flowmaster. Do you think the same will happen if I switch out to the magnaflow.

Meh I don't really know much about cars but I know taking off the stocker and putting on a different exhaust changes the way the air pressure exits the engine. Some exhausts could have a positive or negative effect, meaning the backpressure changes. But with the gas mileage part, could it maybe be that you are driving a little faster or revving more to hear the exhaust?

Also get a CAI/SRI, depending on your tranny. Won't help your gas mileage in any way but will make it sound good enough for you to not care. Just steer clear of Ebay in that division.

I think this should go into the General or trouble shooting section, but here goes my theory. Did you notice the loss in mileage before or after you put that big a$$ stereo box in your trunk? Weight is a big factor in gas mileage. Try resetting the ECU, it might need to reconfigure the map with the open exhaust (though I doubt it). Did you chane driving habits so you could hear the new exhaust?
