Need some help.

I just bought a piggy back v2 from a evom member. They had a 02-03 model but I have a 06 es lancer. The pin diagram is different from the instructions I received with the piggy. It only has 3 plugs in the back of the ecu I have. One plug is blue, the middle one is orange, and the last plug is green. The picture in the diagram has 4 plug ins. I hooked the piggy up started it and waited for at least 10 minutes for the idle. When I went to dive it the car it had very little power. It also sounded like old volkes wagon beetle. I parked it right away and said I'll mess with it tomorrow after work. I'm seeking out what I did wrong. I think I hooked up some wires wrong. Can anyone help me with the 2006 es pins on the ecu? I won't be able to get to it till tomorrow afternoon because its dark and I have to go to work in the morning.

Thanks,
Jake

Please move this. Sorry.

i definitely wouldn't have installed it--the pinouts are most likely different. even for the 02-03s there is a difference between the automatic and the 5 speed ECUs. i am sure that it will work with your engine fine, but you need to find out which pins to tap into. guessing is a bad idea.

i don't think you will have an issue so long as you get the correct pinout diagram. definitely call up RRM and see if you can reach someone there. they will help you out.

Take out the piggy. Why would u install it if the pins are different!!!!! U may damage your ecu! You do not want to do that. remove it and wait for the propper instructions/pin diagram. ZOMGZzzzz

Just got done talking to someone at RRM (brian i think). He said it was weird that I only had 3 plugs in the back of my ecu because its a manual lancer. He said they usually have 4 and that auto's have 3. Has this happened to anyone else? I can take pics later tonight if you guys need to see. I have a 06 es lancer.

RRM is sending me the instructions for the auto to see if those work. He said the auto has 3 plug-ins. My soldering gun broke yesterday so I'll have to install it over the weekend. I'll update you then.

P.S. Please move this to the tuning section

Smile

Just finished installing and driving for 20 minutes. The car runs good but is still learning. Thanks to the guys at RRM (Brian & Mike) for putting up with me. Here is also a pic of my ecu with 3 pin plug thingys. Just to show my ecu has 3 and is a manual.

UPDATE:

The car is pulling a lot better since the install and feels a bit smoother to me. Even my girlfriend can feel a little difference.

ECU problems can be a huge PITA (and i don't mean flat bread! ) and you don't need that.
