My turbo build! 16G!!!

So here is the work in progress. I still need to hook up the fans, fuel pump and injectors, Other than that its pretty much done. I started last sat. night but due to me working 12+hour days this is as far as Ive gotten.

Pretty much everything had to be custom made/fitted. Except the IC piping fit like a glove!

I'll get some more shots later, these were taken the other day..you have to see my ghetto oil return.lol

Anyways, im going for the sleeper look, powdercoated black intercooler. And stock rear exhaust

Good job,

I like your idea of powdercoating the IC black and keeping the stock exhaust.
I think it sounds great and I'm gonna keep it after I piece up my very own 16g.

Btw, did you use the stock evo IC piping cus it doesnt look like it. Oh, and could you post a part list and a video when your done?

Thanks

It is the stock IC piping.

I just went to start the car...when priming the feed line I noticed this:

Oil is just flowing out of it, I must have tightened the feed to much or it was the wrong threading or somthing... this sucks, can I just weld that shut or do I need a new housing? (hopfully I can order just that piece! but it looks like its part of the block?)

Help me guys, should I have someone come over and see if they could weld the crack shut? Or would it be a waste of money - and go buy a new oil pump case?

i know this is a dumb question but can you take a further picture back. i don't recognize that area, (where the oil is leaking)... oh and what did you do with the gold colored cap for the throttle body part? it looks like you took off the cover completely? is that okay?

as for your question, how bad is it cracked? do you have a new picture of the cracked area? is it the fitting thats cracked or the actual piece? i noticed when you first posted that picture that there was oil everywhere but i thought that might have been when you were putting it in.

I didnt do anything to the throttle body area. The crack is about 1cm long in the oil pump housing. I was looking at the back of the jb weld package i have and it said it will work on cracked engine blocks, so maybe i'll give that a shot, lol.

I will let everyone know

Return line cost's $10 from home depot(including hose and fitting)

The feed line was from anplumbing.com - ordered Sunday night and received it on Wed. w/hose and fittings it was like $50. You have to assemble it yourself though - pita.

Here is some updated engine pics. The jb weld said it takes 15 hours to dry. So tomorrow I will let everyone know how the start up is(even though it started last night before oil went everywhere, lol.

The crack on the oil filter housing should be fine with JB Weld as long as the surface was extensively cleaned off and it was able to cure properly. The oil filter housing is part of the entire front case and oil pump on the 4G94. The part costs over $220 at Mitsu, my cost. I don't know what it would cost a normal customer. It is a horrible design by Mitsu compared to the 4G6x engines where the oil filter housing is removable from the oil pump case.

lol that looks like an extensive amount of jbweld, haha. i really hope you cleaned it off properly and made sure there wasn't any oil lingering around while applying it. i used jb on a crack before and after a month, when i went under the car, i could rip off the weld (i didn't clean it properly). good luck! car looks awesome!

btw, don't worry about the slim fan issue. i think most turbo charged lancers have the same problem with space, haha.. not much room. (mine literally has no room on the driver side.. but just a thought, why don't you flip it? why don't you put the passenger side on the other side of the rad if you're worried about the wires going everywhere? my passenger side slim fan sits on the outside (in between rad and crash bar, and my drivers side is between rad and intake.

I did clean the area good. A few rounds of carb cleaner/file/120 grit sand paper.

I started the car today(turned right over and sounded good) but there was a little oil running out on the underside of the fitting now >.< So I guess I'll get that patched up tonight and start it again tomorrow, if this doesnt work, I'll just buy a new case I guess.
