If you take the "driver" argument though, any combination of cars is viable. Hell a civic can (and often does) beat cars like Vipers, Corvettes, Ferraris, etc. in autocross and road racing because of superior driving but obviously a Corvette is a considerably more potent vehicle than a civic.
There's a guy in our car club that rallies a Ford Focus and he regularly beats fully prepped STis. However, put those vehicles in the hands of a similar driver and the Focus wouldn't stand a chance. The same goes for your friend. The problem isn't the car, it's the driver.

True dat! Ontop of that, Auto X is more about suspension then power. I have seen protos modded out the **** with suspension, no motor work done, crush some of the vehicles listed above! Though driver is a big factor, it dont take a rocket scientist to keep her tracking in a straight line, which is why you will find more of thoes cars at the drag track! I like AWD and FWD cars for this comp!

The GTS is already great in the corners, but the RA is going to be even more stout, and the Evo X is prob already a beast!

Again, Only my Opinion! Not FACT!

Do you think that an aftermarket Turbo on a 09 2.4 GTS would perform equal to or even out proform to a 09 Raliart at WHP?

Untill we get one of each dyno'd we wont know, but the pre-release numbers on the 09RA was 240 hp.

Could you get 240 whp out of a 2.4L motor, the answer is yes. Will it perform with the 09 RA? The answer is unknown!

From the hole shot, or a dig, NO AWD reighns suprem! From a roll, maybe. The true question is, How many bone stock Evo VIII +'s do you know? I don't know any! How many stock 09 RA's are you going to run into? Probably not many of thoes either!

Numbers might match, but performance is going to be very different!

Depends entirely on what kind of turbo setup you go for. If you go with a T-28 running 6 PSI, you won't stand a chance but if you go with say an 18G running 20 PSI, you'll blow their doors off.
RC, most cars you encounter are probably stock. Remember, we (tuners) definitely represent the minority of car owners, even within a local car club there are a lot of bone stock cars without any plans of modifications.

I know, but in the last 8 yrs I've been doing this, there are hardly any Evo's, Sti's, and even WRX's that I've (and I mean that, "THAT I'VE", not everyone) come across that have been bone stock. This is (tuners) the larges growing market in the world. It is turning into a cult following hobby. Small parts like bolt ons, to full up custom builds. But that also depends on you def of modded! Some folks only do a BOV. Is that a mod? I wouldnt consider it modded untill its a hp effecting change.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with, or who will be the first bottom up build! What does it really take to make it a competitor.

I would still like to see, or be, the crazy NA GTS on the road. Im just afraid that doing that will unleash the Black and Decker in the car! I don't want that at all. I might just stick with the intake and exhaust and keep it clean with some interior and exterior mods. Sure would be nice if the thing just could breath a little better!

UMM yeh cause the acura brand is very strong and respected so people minds are locked in even to an inferior performing product at too high a price... MITSU IS NOT IN A POSITION TO PLAY THAT GAME...!

Hmm... Say i'm just looking for a nice looking car just as a daily driver. Would the lancer be good for me then? Because I really really love how the lancer looks and i'm planning to get one in the coming months but after all i've heard its really not looking too good. Would it be alright for me if i'm not really looking for speed just something nice to drive around in?

btw i'm still in high school so even if I could I wouldn't be getting a evo or anything. I'd have to look for another car in the same price range.

grabbing a evo when you can't afford it is a no go. when buying a performance car like that you are just waiting to spend more money on parts when things go wrong. Now mitsubishi isn't all that great with aftermarket parts and it is sometimes quite expensive other than other car makes/models like hondas and so forth. In my opinion a lancer is nice. A great commuter car. If you don't wanna spend a lot of money into when things go bad with the car later buy just the regular lancer.

I'm sure it's possible but you'll need to change the ECU, maybe the wiring harness, the transmission, and of course the interior panels.

yeah and don't forget the shifter assembly all the cables you need. The correct axles and all mounts. Pretty much find a wrecked lancer and swap all the parts from that. You'd probably be happier if you bought the car with a manual tranny already.
