Turbo GTS Vs. Evo X Vs. 09+ RA

Here is a better place to argue this topic. Lets leave Rock and the guys alone!

I still like the RRM GTS better. A nice sleeper! RA or Evo X would be nice, but GTS-T would be cheaper!

Hope this helps

Scott

I've been reading these threads for a while now on GTS turbo kit. and its getting my all excited, I was just never allowed to make a registered account for this website from work.

Now, to clarify some of the numbers the canadian guys are giving you on the forums here. The guys who are saying they paid around $27K for a fully loaded GTS (all options) is absolutely true 100% i gaurantee it. because thats what mine was from Edmonton Alberta, so im going to guess my cars price is within 1K of anyone else who got one in alberta.

Yes, the markup is absolutely ridiculous from USA to here in Canada. It is easily in the 25% to 33% range. A base model 2008 Lancer starts at approx $17K if i remember correctly. So I think that for those guys up here who bought the GTS is well worth is to add the RRM turbo kit when compared to buying a new RA or Evo X. Oh yeah. by the way if you want a fully loaded EVO X up here in canada, fully top of the line all options.. you are looking at a car valued around $58K if i remember correctly.

So all depending on where you make ur purchase and how much you love ur '08 Lancer you will buy or not buy a RRM turbo. For myself i am definetly thinking about getting this bad boy when it comes out.

I'm with you. Everyone has their opinion. Yeah, the 2009 RA is going to be badass. But I couldn't even begin to afford it, given the higher payment and likely higher insurance.

Personally, I'm happy with my GTS's currently power output. If I ever go crazy and want more (and my fiancee doesn't murder me as soon as I pull out the credit card), I'd just slap a turbo on. Not trade in my car and take some massive negative equity with me. RRM makes a good, proven product.

Wow. Just wow.

Yeah, they're about done with the MT version. CVT will need more time as they just started modifying the MT kit to work on the CVTs. Should be available soon and should cost between $4600-4800.

I gave good numbers to. The GTS CVT with Nav / Sun and Sound / Door sill protectors / Trunk mat / and All Weather Floor mats was about $23,000. Sales tax in Las Vegas is 7.5% Thats $1,725. So $24,725 for everything.

Now I wheeled and dealed with the dealer for 3 days and they basicly gave me the Nav for free b/c I didnt want it but they didnt have a GTS CVT with only Sun and Sound.

The Evo X here with dealer mark up is at 38K without sound, nav, or anything else!

Mitsu said that the 09 RA was going to be in the 23K to 25K to compete with the WRX since the stock lancer does not compete with it and the Evo is in line with the Sti. It is based purly on the GTS. The only body change is it gets the Evo X hood. It is a GTS on steriods or an Evo X on Ridalin.

The RRM turbo kit is going to be great fro making the power but there is going to be a lot of other things missing. I love the GTS but more power, AWD, unpraded interior, and a warranty! The last one really hurts, but if done right, it won't matter.

I just wish that NA had more control over dealer mark ups. Thats what is going to doom the new RA. Now, people are going to get the RA and power it up to the Evo X really quick!

I still think that RRM is doing a great job by making a kit that will be powerful and safe!

do you really think dealers will mark this car up? maybe the 1st month or so just cuz it's new. but afaik this car isn't low volume. mitsu probably will pimp the f*ck outta this car with incentives or rebates or lease deals, etc. imo this car is poised to sell. the evo always was meant to stand still and look pretty... this car seems like it was built to sell like hotcakes.

that makes sense..even though yalls rates are crazy..

but 27k for a top of the line GTS then you have the evo at 58..the ralliart in Canada is going to fall somwhere in between there so im guessing 35-43 range or even higher

i dont think the markup will ever change on evos, they dont have to just like hondas they dont have to lower the price they're going to sell either way

so speaking here in the US. i have never seen a Evo X around 33 the cheapest evo X ive seen was about 36k yeah markups are crazy..so if mistubishi does charge 25 fo rthe RA markup is gonna make it higher..

i just really wanna see what the final price is gonna be on this thing..i just cant see them selling the car for 25 even to compete with a WRx or STI

if somones coming in looking for speed for their buck most people would go with the new SRT-4 which is only 23k but puts up numbers to compete with the Evo its just personal preference at a point me i would personally never buy a subaru ever no matter how fast they made it for the price

but yet people buy Acura TSX's priced at 28k starting with 201hp and 145lps of tq which is pathetic..but the acura TL which starts at 33 puts up 230hp and 200lbs of tq but yet the TSX still sales..so when you say that the ralliarts sales will be cut short of they charge more..isnt nessisarly true

oh yeah, i forgot to mention about all the options available.. NAV is not an option in Canada. so we don't get it!!!! so we pay through the nose for less of a car.. sorta of a **** off, but what can ya do. and i never really got much of a deal. other than they didnt raise from MRSP and since at the time Alberta didn't have one in the type that i wanted... Graphite gray CVT with sun/sound package.... they had to ship one from vancouver BC. and i was bumped up the waiting list by three months. haha money talks i guess i don't know. so i didn't get any really sweet deals on the car. but man i would like NAV. i had to buy it afterwards.. 500 dollar TOMTOM. theni went on to put about 15ooo KM on the car over the next 10 days or so.. i went from JASPER ALBERTA to Phoenix AZ. then back up to Toronto ONT. then back to Edmonton AB.. no prob with the car.. i bought it july 07 and theres over 23K KM on it.. so i guess thats around 16000-17000 miles(too lazy to do the math) and i love my car.. no way will i trade it is.. however i did cry a little when i went back to visit the dealership and saw the EVO X sitting there.

^^ we get the cold weather package (heated seats, heated side view mirrors) that the americans dont. We dont get leather either.

You should see the japanese version of the 08 lancer. It has HID's, AWD, lots of crazy ****.

I had the first one in BC, I ordered it through kelowna when I was living in Vernon, but am now living back in Calgary. Paid $21,000 all in for my ES 5-spd.

With gas prices going to hit $1.50/L for regular this year, I figure for the $100.00 a week gas bill you can take your forced induction and shove it. haha

Wow, that is freakin outragous.

Madfast, Thats the same thing they tried to do with the Evo X. It was supposed to be between 28K and 32K! Its not doind the mark ups, it the dealers, and they care more about the money they make than they do how long the car sits on the lot.

I worked at a dealership for 3 years, they dont make very much money of a car sold at MSRP! But what ever they make over MSRP is pure profit! Thats the incentive to mark up! But I also think that will only happen for the first 6 months too.

This thread is pointless. A turbo'ed GTS is not even in the same ballpark. It would cost more than a Ralliart, only be FWD, have a crappy interior, no SST, and most of all... IT WONT BE STOCK! You cannot compare modded cars to stock cars.

We already have a Evo vs. Ralliart thread so this is completely pointless.
