this is what happens when i get bored!
never thought it would be this hard to sell a car....went to a car max place today to see what i could get for the car if i don't sell it private party. well they offered me what i thought they would but uts way laower than what i want.
i just don't want to renew the plates for another year since they are due in 15 days at the end of the month. never thought it would be this close considering ive ben trying to sell the car really since march......

I sold my Buick for 1400 in like...well less than a month i think. What are you asking for the lancer? Top dollar, under market value, somewhere in between?

right now im looking for 3800, will go to 35 maybe 32. bluebook on it is around 48 or so. so i really dont think im asking that much, i mean i know the car isnt in perfect condition, but really..
ive had a lot of people say yes this is the car i want but i cant get the loan and im not dealing with payments from a private party.....ive already had to take people to court to get my money, so im not dealing with it.....
i has one guy completely lowball me at 2k, but heck for that ill renew the plates and drive it for another year....

agreed, you are asking a fair price. Carmax would probably give you more than "that 2k guy". Just make sure you are listing it on Craigslist, under like 3 different rotating accounts, lol.
Also, yes...NEVER do private party payments. That's the worst situation to be in. You couldn't pay me enough to be a "repo man", the same sort of stuff happens in our rent houses, and I just hate it. All or nothin'. Side note though dude...I do miss having 2 cars, a spare is necessary with a serious project car.

well time to bump my old thread if anyone was wondering what happened to me...... from the last post as you can see i have sold the lancer about a year ago and still have my wrx. tuned that all myself as well but before i threw it on the dyno and made 212 wheel / 223 torque with basically a stock car and no tune.
since that a lot of spirited driving and i added a trailer hitch to it so i can pull a small enclosed trailer for some random stuff, but the car seemed a little weak. had the car compression tested and leakdowned and it proved the point. cylinder 2 was DONE! it went 125/24/100/110 for all the cylinder. leakdown on the 3 "good ones" held 40-50 psi. cylinder 2 blew it right out the oil filler tube so i knew it was the rings.
so i purchased a new short block from subaru and got the heads done, now finally got it all rebuilt and dropped in and finished today. got it started and i forgot to tighten the oil feed from the head all the way and i have about 3 qts like that onn the ground. thank god i had that bag of oil dry....
now to fix that and get her broken in. tell ya the truth the car sounds a lot better and a bit different now that its actually running on all 4 cylinders again.
my suggestion is that if you are looking to buy a modified or car that could be modified, spend the money and have it compression tested and leak downed. if the owner has a problem with it then dont buy it because it might have a major problem like what happened with mine just 2 years down the road. also if you have ecu flash check to see what tune it has if any. once again if the owner has a problem with it then theres something wrong.....

I think that's great advice, compression test and leak down....unless you know the first thing you are doing is yanking the engine out to put a new one in. I'd actually love to swap in a better engine. Did the one you put in have more "*****" to it, or is it pretty much stock (since you said it came from subaru)?

Stock replacement 2 liter block that came in the car originally. I was planning on taking the old one and doing something with it but after spending 4k on the rebuild for this one (that's actually what I paid for the car 2 years ago when I bought it....), i just dont havt]e the time or moneyt or resourcces to do anything with it. well that and after spending what i did on the rebuild i dont want to take it back out for a while.....

well have had a rough couple of days here. rolled the wrx after hitting a concrete barrier at 70mph on the intersatte monday night. both my wife and i walked away from this and are fine. sore but fine.

my wife took the majority of the damage with a 2nd degree burn from the seat belt acrost the chest, a now fist sized bruise on her lower boob, and also bruises along her waist from the lap belt. my injuries are in the photos...
