i couldnt beat the price. even a used lancer like 06ish was 7k. that and i got 2 more wheels driving which is nice for winter here in wisconsin!

plus it sits a little higher than an awd dsm nd the lower insurance rates than an evo for me.

as far as i know its unmolested under the hood minus a sri. it has a "no name" exhaust from at least the cat back but i think its a tbe since the turbo spool so quick and its hard to keep the car out of any sort of boost.

as far as i know thats all that is done to it.

so here are some updates:

the lancer is now down at my parents house for the time being until i can find a trans for it. i can now also work on a lot of the little things that i have been wanting to do but just havent found the time to do so with it being a dd.

the subie is in need of a new clutch. ive read to only replace it with the stocker to avoid putting a ton more stress on an already weak 02 trans (the gears were apparently much smaller in the 02's than the 03 and above models). found the stock exedy replacement for about 175 shipped, so that isnt too bad. not sure the best route to do the clutch tho. i can drop the trans or move the engine forward. either way a PITA and about 6 hours total.

ok this goes out to anyone looking to turbo your non evo base lancer.....

THESE CARS ARE NOT EVO'S. THEY REQUIRE A LOT OF WORK AND TUNING TO MAKE THIS CAR ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO WHAT AN EVO CAN DO.

hence in forth....
i drove an hour and a half south yesterday morning to help someone (not gonna mention names but you know who you are if yur reading this) turbo their lancer. ok so this was gonna be a $300 job to do. i stoped by his hous on easter and looked at everyhting he had and made mention tho get this, this, this, and that to do the job right and not have it be a hack job.

so i get down there and we already run into problems because he didnt do the research nor the setup to make sure that everything fit correctly. we drove around looking for parts and didnt find any to make it work. so i wouldnt be down for another 2 weeks due to prior arangements for this upcoming weekend and mentioned that i would be back down in 2 weeks to do it. then now having to make 2 trips to do a job that could have been done that day if the correct parts would have been bought in the first place.

and now hes not even going to compensate me for my gas down, giving him some more advise on what to do and what to get, and also not even for driving him around to get the right parts if the auto parts stores actually had them.

so in other words DO RESEARCH on these threads and forums before taking on a project like turboing a non evo lancer. i speak from experience from doing it myself, and from the other guys on here who already have done it as well.

i think im done.....

wow almost a month since ive posted here in my own thread.

the lancer is fixed. i figured out what it wasnt shifting and didnt need to get a new trans, although it still ended up being a $4k fix since i bought the wrx.

what had happened was that the shift selector was bent down a bit so that it wouldnt always engage the gear select. i must have bent/bumped it down when we were putting my trans back into the car. but oh well its fixed and driveable to a point. till today when the alternator took a crap and now have to get a new one to make it driveable again.

soit looks to be at least one more week before i get to pull the engine and do the clutch on the wrx. need to get it back up to my apartment so that i still have a car because i figure at least a week-2 weeks down time on the wrx since i have no service records on it im doing everything basic maintence wise to it sothe car will last!
