ok so back to working on the lancer.....urgh.....

this last weekend my fiance and i went up north to door county wisconsin for a weekend getaway and i was having some problems with the clutch in the lancer. well today the (or what i belive) slave cylinder went out today. kick out the clutch and its really soft and now acutally the car moves while clutch kicked out and there seems to be nothing there. there looks to be fluid all around so i ordered a new one today and that should be here friday.

but does anyone know or maybe senate can pipe in here, what is the difference between like an 01 eclipse and an 04 lancer slaves other that bore size? i found the lancer one to be a 5/8" bore while the eclpise has a 13/16" bore. they look to have the same mounting but idk.

04 lancer slave
01 eclipse slave

any thoughts?

for yours....

yes you do

back o say about 25k ago i grenaded a few syncros in my original 03 trans. found an 04 at a salvage yard for $50 more than an equivelent 03 and had less miles on it. so i took the no brainer result.

come to find out, in 04 the changed from the all in one slave/tob in the 02-03's to an external slave with release fork and tob like the evos just turned 180 degrees the opposite way. thus in turn able to change parts fairly cheap and efficient.

yes i know. i prefer to lick more

anywho...

from 03-04 they changed the bell housings. 03 bolted the slave/tob to the inside of the housing and then in 04 it went to individual pieces thus like i sad making it easier and faster to change some of it without dropping the trans.

ill take a look tmw and see if i can even get it and at what price.

UPDATES:

lancer-
got the new slave yesterday and put it in today. yes i have a clutch again after bleeding it. went out for a test drive and blew off the bov so just a little more tweaking with the pipes again and itll be golden.

wrx-
engine is FINALLY out. i was going to literly tear it apart and freaking build the s*#t out of it but after getting the engine out and acually lifting it (i was told that it was a super light block, in which it weighs about 400 lbs or so atleast) it wasnt gonna make it up the flight of stairs to my apartment to be able to sit and pick at it. so as for now it sits in front of the rex tarped until i can make a few phone calls tmw and see what happens from there.

right now i think im just gonna change my up-pipe to my new external one and do the clutch and plugs as well at this time. i was gonna do some other stuff but idk yet for now gotta see if i can get it under a roof first...

oh my lord...you were gonna dangle that thing in your bathtub or something, weren't you! That's one of those "You might be a redneck if...." things, hehe.

That's tight that you got the engine out of it, gratz on that as well as getting the lancer rolling.

lol that was funny....

soob engine is ready to go back in. this is why it needed a clutch

had to grind the flywheel twice today because i did it the first time, then as i was putting the flywheel back on i noticed where the old clutch disc was metal to metal on the very inside of the flywheel, so back to work again and re-ground the flywheel and it is all back together now and should be going back in the car soon.

did some cleaning on the engine and aslo installed my new up-pipe for my external wastegate for whenever i can afford it, and i also put in new spark plugs as well. now just to put it all back together and use a crap load of antisieze so its easier next time. out of all the engines ive pulled this is by far the easiers just takes a bit to do.

Holy clutch material man!!!! I gotta pic for you

This came off a dudes explorer I did a brake job on, the top rotor was in bad shape too but looks fine compared to the bottom one. I had to replace the caliper on that side too because the piston had been overextended for so long it was toast. He wondered why he could not stop very good

I have this rotor hanging in my garage lol

o and as an fyi.....

i DO believe that that was the original clutch as well at 165k. looking at the one i put in to the one that was in there they were exactly the same, so with being 3rd owner of the car i can only assume..

lancer...
well i now am gonna replace the clutch master cylinder after talking to a few techs and a few shops they usually recommend if you replace one you replace the other, so thats on order an will be in sometime next week.

as for the soob...
ordered a new flywheel yesterday for it since it was out of balance (dang, nother $250 out the door!). engine will be ready tmw afternoon to go back in after i get some new valve cover gaskets.

question for all.....
what should i do with my lancer? i know its my decision, but what do you all think?

the car is really starting to nickel and dime me (and fully paid off) and as of recently really getting on my nerves.

here are a few options i have as for what to do with the car:

1. put back to stock and keep as non turbo dd
2. put back to stock and sell car and turbo separate
3. sell all together
4. keep as is

i really dont know what to do. everyone in my family wants me to sell the car, but idk ive put so much time and research into the car that i really dont want to give it up, but the soob is a much better platform and its awd. i dont have to source parts. i can go pretty much anywhere to get parts for it.

so what are your opinions?

keep as is bro. keep and maintain what you have if you dont want to do anything more to it. to much work n time has gone into it now, no point in putting it back to stock or selling it!
its not worth anything anyways.
