New pistons and rods

I am about to purchase pistons and rods, but wanted some feedback first. I am getting Wiesco pistons and was think about getting the Carrillo K1 rods, they are supposed to be good for up to 400 hp. Has anyone ever used these rods, search hits came up blank. Thanks

Crower, Pauter, or Carrillo are all good.
I have Pauter rods sitting in my living room, I still need pistons.

Great, I think I will go for them since they are almost half the price of the Pauter or Crower.

Well, I just bought everything. Wiseco 9:1 pistons and Carrillo K1 rods. Got a great deal, $820 shipped.

I have another question, I read at some point about having 3 different sized connecting rod bearings for our engine, anyone know more about this and if its true? I was told you can only get the bearings from mistu and I need to mic mine to make sure I order the right ones.

As for the bearings, I remember reading a post that you have to remember each connecting rod bearing color that you replaced because they are color coordinated. each engine is different, but some have said theirs were all the same color.

Are you installing these yourself? You might as well get ARP head studs and a metal head gasket while your at it. I'm going to be doing everything all at once

I heard the same about the bearings when I had my engine rebuilt. I think there was a way to tell which you needed without taking the engine apart, maybe it says on the block.

Thanks, I guess I will have to keep searching. I will be rebuilding the engine myself, already ordered arp studs. What is a good recommendation for a head gasket, I was just going to use a stock one? About the bearings, It would be nice to know without dropping the oil pan. I would like to have my car down for as little time as possible.

you can order a metal head gasket from RPW, the thickness depends on how much more you want to lower the compression

Well sometimes with installing a turbo pre-ignition and detonation can occur and can kill the head gasket. Same with knocking and pinging. With getting a performance head gasket it can add to longevity and be more durable.

A decompression gasket lowers the compression which in turn allows you to run more boost safely. The trade off is a lower compression means less off boost power.

Couple questions. I think I want 8.5 compression so I will get a decompression head gasket, but does only RPW Sell tem? and are they're prices Australian, I didn't see it mentioned on they're site but it seems to be the case? ( if it is USD I would be surprised).
