what fuel do you use?
as the title says, what fuel do you use (brand, octane, etc)? what results have you gotten with what you use? etc.
i use bp's ultimate (round here in wisconsin its 93 octane) and have very good luck with it. i have also tried mobil's premium andthat just sucked so badi syphoned it out and put back in bp's. also tried kwik trips 91. it was ok but it still was a noticable drop in performance.
gonna maybe try sonoco's 110 octane race fuel from a gas station just up the road from where i live in wuanakee wisconsin here.
anyone else try the higher octane or just octane boost?

I use premium gas in Shell and sometimes QT(Highest Octane GAS). Honestly all premium does is clean out your fuel system. I think higher octane helps on a turbo car or a performance car. If you have a N/A it wouldn't do a thing and just barely help out your MPG but sooo little you won't even notice.
He has a turbo lancer. Anyways, if you're tuned for 91, 93/94 is probably the highest you can effectively use. 110 octane is a waste of money unless tuned for it. Octane boosters don't do jack, they increase the octane maybe 0.1 of an octane point.
I thought the point of running higher octane on boosted cars was besides helping protect against knock it also burns more efficiently and in turn lowering temps a little.
BTW...I run 93 from the least expensive gas station I can find.

Higher octane has more knock or detonation protection and burns slower. This is why running high octane if you're not tuned for it can be bad, you don't fully burn the gas and take advantage it. Ideally you want to run the lowest octane you can without getting knock. If you're not getting any knock on 91, running 94, 101, 110, etc. is just pissing money away.

theres like 4 or 5 e85 stations in the greater madison area around here. thanks for the advise on the sonoco stuff. i currently have it tuned for 93 at 7lbs.and it works great. never tried shell gas, but there is a sinclair station in middleton wisconsin that sells 100% pure gas no ethanol added. anyone think that as premium would be better than the bp im currently running.
o the 93 also helps when your morning temperature is -25 degrees!

Topic is pretty much covered, but I'll chime in on a couple of things ...
1) Most octane boosters are useless. A couple actually work, but most do nothing.
2) If you are boosted, run 91/93 minimum. Even if you were tuned on 87/89, the extra knock resistance is worth the cost of 91/93.
3) From what I know, all octanes burn basically the same ... same speed, same temp. The only benefit of higher octane gasoline is more knock resistance. sure, high octane fuel has a higher concentration of aromatics, but not enough to change the flame speed or temp any amount worth mentioning.
Personally, I use BP 93 w/ ~10% Ethanol. I used to use Shell, but since Shell has added the 10% Ethanol I've found BP to have slightly better knock resistance.
