4g63 in a US lancer?

So can a fwd 4g63T engine be swapped into a lancer? Let's just say cost isn't a factor.

Does it cover the FWD models though?

Aight, the FWD 4G63T only available in 1/2G DSM, not on EVO. The engine configuration for the DSM with tranny is totally different than that of the 5G Mirage and the new Lancer. If you're determined to have the DSM's FWD engine to work in a Lancer, prepare to re-weld all the motor and tranny mounts and relocate most of the things in the engine bay then

The 1/2G 4G63T (engine only) has the same configuration of EVO I-III ones.

[EDIT: to get the fact straight for the DSM]

FWD of course!

Of course you're talking FWD` what AWD Mirage/Lancer would
there be without a turbo 4G63 under the hood in the US? His FAQ
covers the swap you're talking about.

So it's just like doing a honda engine swap. So it can easily be done, if you have a little skill

I would say a lot more than "a little" the 2G engine is 180 degee "turned" compared to the Lancer's engine. so you will have to relocate prob EVERYthing (A/C, PS, etc....). You will need new axles, ECUs, sensors, upgraded fuel system...yadda yadda yadda...

Awesome info Swap Guru. It's a shame the damn engine have to be turned as such. Probably cheaper to buy a Mirage with the appropriately turned engine and then pull of the swap no?

I'll probably add this to the existing FAQ to Lan. Excellent work.

Like I said a little harder than a honda swap. Powersteering and a/c isn't needed. Gotta do half that stuff with a lot of honda swaps anyways

Let me put it this way, it would be much much easier (relatively speaking) to do an EVO I-III replica IMO....since the 4G mirage has the same engine cofig compared to 1/2G DSM....and parts will be easier to fine with all those DSMs out there

Do what?

All 1G Turbo DSM are AWD.
Err, no. There are 1G FWD Eclipses, Talons and Lasers.

What's a 2G IIRC?
