Starting a turbo build on my 04 lancer
I did some research and here is a part list for what I need for my turbo with approx prices. I will be going with a 16g turbo after all of your guys help. It seems kinda short to me so if im missing something or you found a better part plz let me know! Also for a turbo manifold I can only find 4g63. I have JVT racing headers on now. can i cut the flange off those and weld them onto the 4g63 manifold so it will line up? thanks im only looking ot push about 6psi right now until I learn more.....Also regarding intercoolers I do not want to remove the crash bar so will a 28"x7.5"x2.5" work? thanks guys!
16g Turbo and 4g94 manifold 400.00
Megan racing down pipe 180.00
Forge wastegate actuator 195.00
Mishimoto Z Line Intercooler W/piping 176.00
Injectors WRX 440cc USED 150.00 New 400.00
Greddy BOV 225.00
Greddy piggyback ECU 300.00
Walbro 255 fuel pump 100.00
AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator 182.00
Oil feed line 25.00
Total: $2,183.00
I figured in the injectors at full price so if I find them cheaper I will be happier lol

Trying to cut and weld a header to a manifold is just ghetto-fab IMO. It will most likely leak, and look horrible. You'd be better off finding a vendor who sells a mani designed for what you are doing.
Yes the intercooler will fit without any problems or removing the crash bar. I run something very similar to the mishimoto one and it fits without a problem. Secondly I would recommend picking up the megan o2 housing as well as the megan downpipe. A quick suggestion though would be to search around evom and find them used if you are looking to save some money/dont mind used parts.
For the manifold I would stay away from cutting and welding two manifolds together. While it will probably work, it looks horrible and is the easy way out of it. If you are looking for a manifold like the one show on the website, pm chele. He will be able to help you out with getting a manifold.
Also what greddy unit are you looking to use for tuning? I would look into finding a local tuner that would be able to tune the stock ecu. It would yield much better results then what a piggy back ecu will.

OK awesome I was thinking the same about used parts. this is just my list and I will slowly buy and try to find good deals. and thanks for the manifold help. I have searched forums and I have seen people say that's what they did. I will look harder for a direct fit not mickey mouse. But all in all its a good list? im not missing anything major?

That will give you a nice idea of all the components needed for a turbo build. If you are looking for a direct fit manifold pm chele. He will be able to help you out with getting a direct fit manifold!!!

Be careful with the manifold he's telling you to buy. I bought it from him a couple months ago and it started to crack at the collector. Sent him a couple of emails and has yet to reply. The manifold is made from a cheap company named SS Autochrome (eBay brand). You are better off just re-welding a flange on a 4g63 manifold or forking out the cash and having one custom made.
Oh and I welded the cracks and it is now cracking around the welds. I am very disappointed!

dont pay 150 for used 440cc injectors... go on nasioc.com and post a wanted thread.. i got mine for $60 shipped... there way good deals out there.. you just gotta know where to look.
I actually have 2 brackets supporting the manifold and a flex pipe welded into the downpipe. I did everything you instructed and it still cracked. Hopefully we can work something out because $275 is a lot of money.
Can you guys please take this via pm and not ruin this members build thread!
It is not SS Autochrome. Do you know how hard it is to get an answer from a manufacturer during the holidays? You will be getting a replacement very soon. I sent pictures to the manufacturer, I wanted an explanation from them on this problem as I havent had problems with it in the past. This manifold is obviously not made from high quality stainless steel or you would be paying over a grand for it. What do you expect for this price? Also, I know I have stated in numerous threads how important it is to fab a bracket to bolt the turbo to the block because the weight of the turbo and exhaust pulling down on the runners could cause cracking. This happens to the Megan manifolds all the time.
its crappy thin recycled metal, thats machine welded. i will never suggest buying a prefabbed tubular manifold. cast, sure go ahead, but theres no options with that with our car, u have to get some crap that will more then likely break, or spend about a grand on a custom built one out of american grade stainless.
down side to anything cheap, its normally its out of cheap material.
if u have a fab shop build you one, it will cost about a grand.. cost of parts alone are over 300$ for good stainless pipe, and i garentee every fab shop puts a warranty on the materials and welds for life. if u buy a manifold thats around 300$, expect it to break, u will spend more money trying to continuely fix it then its actually worth..
not trying to flame anyone, im just making a point, and im not going to post on this subject again.
i love to see how every 3- 4 months there are always a few new people that poke there heads up and start there build threads, always nice to see there are more and more turbo lancers headed to the streets. i love spankin on hondas and mustangs. (just stay away from other turbo lancers, exspecially if they have a bigger turbo, a better tune, and pushing much more boost then you, oh, and probably have drag radials on)

You make valid points. I can't go into great detail (don't want to get banned) but the whole idea was to make an affordable manifold. This is the first complaint that I have had but I may just stop selling them anyways. I'm not out to rip anyone off.

OK about the manifold...things happen its economic i guess.....but anyway i received a pm that brought up a good point....."and as far as power its all you need(T25) unless you plan on building ur bottom end..(pistons and rods) our rods can only handle maybe 13 or 14psi of boost then they snap like a tooth pick. you can run 5 to 9psi all day and put out more than 200hp."
I am a noob at this but if both spool about the same why spend the extra money if my engine cant handle the max of the 16g turbo? maybe im looking at this all wrong. again im looking to get more oomph outta my ride not track times. when i buy my EVO MR ill put my life into that!

O and thanks for the help on the injectors :-)
Also would either turbo put to much stress on my tranny? i dont wanna go through transmissions like tires
