Or cheap...lol...jk. I've bought two things from them. One they screwed up but didnt care cuz I needed it to pass inspection. The other hasnt failed on me yet or rusted off either. Im still 50/50 on some of their stuff. But that is a bit much for the tuning box. I thought it would be priced around $400 like the other turbo piggy's they have.

Sad part is that http://www.splitsec.com/pricelist.html is the actual company that makes this and charging $500. There is no way that the tuning will cost $1100 extra. Which will have to be fine tuned once you get it. For that money you can get a stand alone ECU and spend extra couple of $$$ to get it professionally dyno tuned. Not to mention you will be spending extra money on 5th injector since that is what they (RRM) is pre-tuning it for. SO you basically spending around $2000 on a piggy back which has its limits and a tune that is not guarantee to work. When you can get stand alone from Greddy (greddy e-manage ultimate BRAND NEW) and a pro dyno tune for less than that.

Once again overpriced. And I will not buy just for a soul purpose of the BBB ratings.

alright i just have to say it....their turbo manifold designs (not just the 08+...) are a poor design. if you have ever noticed, they have the external wastegate inlet pipe coming off of only ONE of the exhaust runners. not like its only 1 or 2 inches from where they all meet even, its at least 5 or 6 inches away from where all the runners meet, and this causes a big pressure difference in the runners, so 3 runners will still be feeding the turbo all they've got, while one runner is losing all its pressure.....can you say bad design??? the wastegate is supposed to come off of ALL the runners, so the pressures are all equal and you get more accurate wastegate operation. IMO, it tells me that they are lazy, and just "feel" like cutting corners and putting less thought into designing parts...

1 guy out of two pages of complaints. Seems like they do all the can for the ra and evo owners. God forbid if you own a regular lancer.

hey guys just thought id share little info. Although i have baught alot of rrm product and had more then enough problems with them. I have to give them props for being the only ones out there taking the time to develop not only products for our car but develop a market for competition. So i know people have their issues and opinions but if it wasnt for them there would be no lancer market.

I am not here to jump into a flame war. But when it comes to things like cost. People (in General) now a days are flat out cheap. Mind you the economy and era we have been living in for the past 10 years, its not really by their own choice. America has a huge problem. The are floods of copy cat knock off stuff streaming into the the country and the government let it happen. The fact that RRM is still open blows my mind. I dont mean this in a bad way, I mean it in a really good way. Facing all the crap that comes from knock off factories.... Companies in the USA have had to work hard and adjust to stay profitable and keep the doors open. If RRM closed tomorrow, the community would be loosing a real grass roots core of the Mitsubishi world in the US of A. I am not saying RRM is perfect. no company is, but the Rules of Supply and Demand say that they are doing something right. On average people are pleased with the product.

If people have a Beef about RRM, fine its your right to share an opinion of a product you have purchased. But when people come and say something is too cheap it bugs me. It costs money to keep the lights on, it costs money to hire and pay staff to make the stuff. Oh and I am sure the owner has a kids and mortgage too. Cut the some slack a little.

I run a local car club, I see people look at something that is good quality, tested and true. They will see something similar or almost identical for half the price and immediately think the original item is over priced. Low and behold when the cheaper item fails.... people are mystified as to why it failed or didnt perform up to par. Then they get defensive as to why they didnt buy the real deal in the first place.

Trust me, RRM is not pefect, again.... no company ever is. But people put a little too much faith in unknown and untested products.

This is just my rant for the day... just my two cents.

The chassis bracing I've purchased from RRM has been great. The welds are awesome, fitment is spot on and the steel and powder coating is top notch. They do have their quirks, though: One example is that the exact brand/type of brake pad they sell you can get for half the price and also, from time to time, the products are somewhat over-hyped...but if I made car parts, you could be damn sure I'd over-hype my own stuff, too While some of their prices are on the higher side, you're at least getting quality goods and service in return.

Spending the extra $$ for something you know is quality shouldn't be much of an issue when it comes to your car. I just put in new brakes all around...I could have went and used Auto Zone house brand pads and rotors and they would fit and function (to a degree) just fine..instead I shelled out the extra $$ for great quality parts that are more durable and perform way better. I do the same for my oil, gas and everything else.

If you're going to dump on a tuning shop, at least dump on it for making crappy stuff (or worse yet re-selling somebody elses crappy stuff!). If somebody's biggest gripe is that my shop is too expensive but the workmanship is great; I'd much rather have that reputation than that of Shop X, who's cheaper but pumps out Chinese made crap with no quality, bad fitments, & poor service.

After reading all the post's on page two of this forum. I have to say, the statistics from BBB on page one do not lie. Aside from personal opinion on the company products and prices, I will say that I'd make a statement and back it up with black and white evidence.

Granted the times are tough economically. And not all the people can afford parts. But to charge $1600 for a piggy back, when some one can use that money to get a stand alone and still have gas money left over, that's a bit of excessive.

Just my .02 cents

^ THIS. If rrm do close, people really wouldnt care. Im sure people will still buy stock lancers just for the sake of "STOCK LANCERS" Not everyone wants to mod their cars. And please don't use that "hes got family and kids to feed" comment, its 100% irrelevant. Their business ethics had gain them a few die hard customers and a big F on BBB

I bought their turbo kit, and had to make my own pieces because they didn't send everything, when I called to have them send the parts missing, nothing but empty promises. So I made the kit work and Im piece by piece replacing their kit.

And I think everyone understands there is a cost to business, but here's thing thing I think you are forget in the "keep the lights on" scenario evo_soul. RRM has been around for 10 years or so it looks like. They should have some legitimate pull with manufacturers and like most distributors probably get their products (that aren't made by them) at whole sale, so if they aren't trying to rip people off, why do they sell, another manufacturers product at a higher price than the manufacturer themselves? 1 of 2 reasons, 1 they aren't able to get the products at wholesale as a vender ( which would be saying something about how they do business in more than one way ) or they do get it at wholesale and they are so greedy that they mark the product up past the manufacturers retail price.

And the lancer community wouldn't die from losing RRM, someone, most assuredly would take their place. As you said, supply and demand. When there is demand, someone almost always steps up to supply, just a matter of how ethical that someone is.

Let me tell you something about business. A) Your either in business for yourself, or B) your in business for shareholders.

When your in business for yourself, your family are your shareholders. It aint easy running a business successfully, staying alive, and profitable. I am not hear to speak for RRM, but I have seen dozens of business start up, and some fail because they just couldnt handle it. I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement. When you do a business, you dont do it cause you feel like it. you do it to make yourself happy, and / or you do it to take care of yourself and your family.

If you can only imagine the stresses that are involved in juggling both.

RRM like other companies are not perfect. And as a potential you have a choice to buy something from them or go elsewhere. thats what the market facilitates. The fact that RRM is still here says that are fulfilling a need. And since there just arent alot of companies out there that are fullfilling our genre of cars. I would say its pretty rare wouldnt you?

This is my own thought on this. In theory yes someone would come along and take their place. But... the are a few problems with this that people do not take into consideration. Any company in their right mind would look at the market for the Lancer and say it isnt be enough. Why would I make even 500 parts for a line that sells 13,000 cars a year. This is the very big reason why you do not see any parts specifically designed for the 2.4L lancer. Further more take into consideration that Mitsubishi does not look to be on steady ground. No manufacturer will commit resources in a market that looks this way. I dont really pass judgement on companies unless I am drawing on person experience or the experience of those around me. But I can take for example the RRM header for the 2.0 and 2.4. Its been a pain in the asses for some customers and RRM, but I have seen them send our replacements to fix the problems that occur. not just 1, but dozens. That costs them money to fix the problems, but they did it and stood by their product. But thats the stuff I see. Have other people had problems and not been taken care of. Its possible, but from what I see with my own eyes, a company that does a decent job of catering to the market. Catering to the Lancer segment. Even the Ralliart is having its problems. Not a lot of manufacturers are supporting it. Sure the Power train stuff is ok because of its cross compatibility with the EVO X. But everything else is non existent.

To be completely blunt. Mitsubishi is in some serious trouble. If they cant streamline their product line for both customers and aftermarket vendors. There will be no more Mitsubishi. Or at least in the sense that we know it.
