Thumbs up Which One?

Hey guys, i just picked up my first car last saturday =] its a 09 Lancer GTS CVT. Has 40k miles on it. Bone stock. My friends were sayung the first thing to do is to get a short ram intake. Theyre easier to install and they also make the car sound better. (From what i have heard) so what is your guy's take on this? Or should i get an exhaust instead? Also, what sites? Ive been reading online nd ppl have suggested rrm or something. Price really isnt an issue cause i work full time. Saving up wont be hard. Thanks, Keith

RRM SRi is a pretty solid unit, not going to give you any trouble. But SRIs are pretty much just noise makers so it doesn't really matter which one you get. Don't bother with a CAI, although it has more gains than a SRI, they're still very minimal, and not really worth the huge price jump.

Exhaust is def a good idea, you'll find the greddy SE (now replaced by the SP but basically the same thing) comes highly recommended. In any case just get a simple axle-back, don't bother with a cat-back, waste of money.

There are plenty of other bolt-ons and whatnot out there but given their gain/price ratio and the fact that the lancer is never going to be fast no matter how many of them you buy, they might as well be a waste of your time and money.

Just make your car look/sound good and be happy.

alright, im not really looking for performance gain. im more torwards the looks and sounds of the car. im not going to be doing much racing either, i just want my car to be respected. do you know/think my local dealer would approve/install the exhaust? or would it void any warranty?

The SRI will def not void your warranty. As for the exhaust, from what I understand it will only void the warranty for your stock exhaust, which is.... ???

Basically if something goes wrong with exhaust related components (wtf is going to go wrong with your exhaust in 60k miles?) it's not covered. So not really anything to worry about.

Dealer doesn't care because these are far from being major modifications, they're just simple bolt-ons that arn't going to effect engine timing or anything. They're not going to freak out, I've had my GTS in and out of the dealer with bolt-ons plenty of times.

And finally the beauty of bolt-ons is that they bolt on and off. Meaning if you're worried about it, or by some crazy freak unexplainable reason your mods do mess up your car, you simply unbolt, put stock parts back on, and take it in to the dealer. They're not even going to know you had mods.
