Cheap Turbo Set Up

Hey guys i am looking into dropping a turbo into my 2008 Lancer GTS manual but I don't really want to drop $5,000 on it. I was wondering if i could use a T4 turbo like this one along with a manifold from Road Race Motorsports. I am not entirely educated on turbos so if you guys would know of any other parts I might need that would be helpful as well.

That setup looks.....EBay-ish. What exact turbo is it? What waste gate? Is that a legitimate Greddy BOV?

I wouldnt waste your time. A buddy of mine went through 2 ebay turbos before finally buying a Garrett. Also that kit doesnt include exhaust manifold, and who knows if that turbo will bolt to the manifold you need.

Also don't forget this will require extensive tuning, and that will not be cheap. To tune, you will also need a wideband air fuel sensor/gauge. You will need to install the sensor in your downpipe or test pipe (or HFC).

Your best bet is to find someone who upgraded their Evo X turbo & manifold. I see turbo and manifold selling together slightly used for $300-600. Better quailty turbo than an Ebay one. Intercoolers, piping, BOV's, all come cheap when you use Evo X take off's.

ALSO, that ebay turbo appears to be oil cooled only. Stock Evo one is oil AND water cooled. Much better set up to run.

My opinion only.

yea im going to have to agree with zebra here. i have heard nothing but problems from ebay turbo kits like that. so you might have to drop 4400 on the rrm kit. or do like zebra said and piece it out from slighty used evo X parts. but in the end its your car and you can do what you want with it.

I wouldn't buy an Ebay kit or turbo. Try finding a Ralliart guy who did a swap to the X setup. I sold mine for 800 and threw in some extra goodies. We want to get rid of them!
