Boosting my 03 OZ

I've been digging through a lot of the forums for any relevant information and also seeing different pics of peoples builds and setups. I know the major things and will sublet the things I can't do myself.. I want to do this correctly the first time that way I can do it again on something else if I chose to down the road. Any advice and recommends is much appreciated and sought after. I will keep searching the threads in the meantime.
I will be documenting each step that I do myself including yanking the engine because its actually really easy to do just about anything on these cars which is ****ing amazing and time saving. I'm building and boosting because I finally blew the engine up after the $600 car purchase 2 years ago with 100% intent of building and boosting.CHECK YOUR FUEL RAIL FOR 2 LINES BEFORE DECIDING TO TURBO. If you have 2 lines one is a return and the other a feed. If it's a returnless system you will be heavily limited in hp/tq possibility without making it a return system. That's from every professional tuner I've been speaking with. I will post many pictures once everything is back together.
Using/have:
  • Wiseco forged pistons. 81.5mm
  • K1 forged rods. 153mm.
  • Evo 8 upper pod cluster w/ radio relocate kit
  • Glowshift 30psi boost guage
  • Glowshift afr gauge w/ wideband install kit.
  • Glowshift 145 psi oil pressure gauge.
  • ACT stage 2 clutch kit w/ new stock flywheel.
  • Maxspeedrods gt2871 turbo and all lines/fittings.
  • Maxspeedrods intercooler and piping.
  • Walbro 255 fuel pump.
  • ID1050X injectors. Required wiring in. Really simple and easy.
  • Maxspeedingrods adjustable fpr.
  • Tomei rail adapter for the fpr. Direct bolt on. Needed a 1/8 npt to -6an fitting
  • Haltech ecu because nobody on the east coast will touch the factory ecu.
  • Senki Revo Sport catback.
  • Hi flow 2.25" flowmaster 200 cell cat. Gotta have if for inspection.
  • Misc silicone fittings for intercooler piping.
  • Custom downpipe. Currently working on that. Had to take a break for a while and collect a bunch of parts.
  • EMUSA 38mm external wastegate, manual boost controller.
  • NGR type s bov

  • but no emissions in hampton roads so I'll do what I want lol.

Rough mockup i still need to finish the support brackets for the bottom. I had covid and it absolutely robbed my stamina from me.

All glowshift gauges installed. None will read right just yet as each connection point is dangling under the hood until the engine is rebuilt. I'll be pulling it within one of the next couple weeks to take to the machine shop.

I finally got the engine out. I was waiting for clear weather after getting all the parts i needed. Dropping it off Tuesday at the machine shop to be rebuilt.

I get the smart assed response. I've seen many different setups on many different cars. Not so much lancers because there aren't any boosted in va other than evos as far as I've seen. It goes on the intake side is what I meant. If I wanted to put one which I do because I'd prefer not to have surge and keep the turbo in good shape for a long time. As I said I'm intending to do it correctly and yea I could be wrong but I'm not exactly looking for smart assery. Though if I wanted to hear the famous "just buy an evo" I'd ask. Its a project and a build bruh that's all.

got off on the wrong foot. I'm not looking for confrontation just trying to learn for myself man. I'm an auto mechanic and don't get custom built cars like na to turbo or supercharged in my shop.(not my choice but the shop owner) I only see built stuff at shows or meets I attend. I have never boosted anything I've owned so yes I am going to sound stupid because I don't have anywhere else to ask questions but forums or youtube videos because I don't have car friends with boosted rides. And I'm the only mechanic in my circle. The performance side of things is different from the everyday job. I'm trying to learn to get it right to be able to repeat on different vehicles down the road.
