well the only succesful swaps ive heard of are the 4g64,(EVO), and even then, money and labor is a pain in the ***, your better off going turbo.

The Evolution has a 4g63. The 4g64 is the 4-cyl galant 2.3l 16v SOHC.

Threads like this still bring a tear to my eye. Tremendously cost inefficient way to make your car moderately quicker.

Exactly, you should only be looking at a swap like that if you are pre-commited to dumping an additional 10 grand into mods after the swap. It's all about balance, for the price of the block swap you can get more power with other mods, if you do the swap then put the mods on you have to compensate with stronger drivetrain (and hopefully handling and brake) components, clutch etc. It also depends on how much actual work you've done on cars and how much you want to learn, if you're just starting out and this is your first car to work on or what. For the cost of the swap you could be making over 200whp (more than double stock) with other mods.. for the swap you'll make 110-125whp if you're lucky and it's done right.
