exhaust leak

i keep losing the same nut and bolt off the bottom of the uppipe. i tighten it up and a week later, i lose it again. i know it expands because of the heat and that you're supposed to check it every week or so for a while after you install the turbo, but is there anything else i can do to stop this from happening? this bolt and nut is a real pain in the *** to get on and it never fails to come apart. any help is appreciated. BTW...this is a rrm intercooled turbo kit. thanks.

Have you tried a new nut/bolt rather than reusing the same one?

get a washer that has spring tension on it when tightened. We use this on aircraft all the time for vibration areas. It looks like it is cut in half, and one side is bent up a little bit. Should keep tension on the nut, preventing it from backing off.

Well you could safety wire the nuts too. But you would have to find nuts with little holes drilled in them though. Other than, maybe loctite?

just use bolts with spring tensioners. they will losen and tighten depending on the heat. maybe look into some kind of locking bolt. but i dont think it is right that u loose bolts that often. check to make sure that everything is instaled properly, if something is instaled wrong somewhere else on ur exhauste then it could be putting extra pressure on the bolts to come undone to release the presure

Lock washer, locktite, and Take a screw driver and dent the threads right after the nut.

what about teflon tape and a lock washer? if i use loctite, someone told me that i won't be able to get the nut off again. i might need to get it off again.

Try the lock washer trick ozracer. My wastegate came lose twice.. And the second time I put some lock washers on it and as Rob told me to I "tightened it down with a prudence". Lol. I am pretty sure the lock washers will do the trick. Just make sure they are grade 8.5 or better lock washers, as that bolt has some serious heat flowing though it on spirited drives. Hope that helps.

They make stainless steel locking ties that may help. Personally I'd just try Loctite.
