Its likely it would, however you then cross over where the you get diminishing returns.. the amount of air most turbos move for the lancer kits would likely result in way too much boost drop with a giant aftermarket intercooler. Think about it this way, you know the stock EVO intercooler works well until 18-22 PSI.. at the lower boost levels, your not moving as much air as rapidly, therefore its size will be more than enough to cool the air as its travelling through the intercooler. In fact, the stock evo8 intercooler may still be a little too large for a turbo running 6-7psi of boost, but nobody has "Tried" it yet.

In my case, I am building another car (A 93 honda civic hatchback for my fiance') so had access to these spares that cost me nothing to experiment with. I am making up a turbo manifold to bolt up my stock Evo turbo (10.5psi of boost is usually too high for most stock N/A motors so I will likely need an adjustable actuator set at 5psi) to the Honda D-Series engine, I am using a stock Evo intercooler, and some of the stock original intercooler pipe parts.. The Honda engine is oriented opposite to the evo engine, so I am mocking up the turbo manifold now with the turbo "Reversed" so it faces the opposite direction and seeing if the O2 housing and downpipe will fit. Also the Honda has its oil filter over there, which has to be relocated to make room using a filter remote mount..

I attached an image of the Stock intercooler lined up with the Buschur racing intercooler.. Its significantly larger..

Yes the Evo8 Intercooler pipes will fit, you'll just have to adjust the A/C pipes a bit so they can squeeze through. I put both the Evo8 I/C and pipes on my 04 a few weeks ago.

link, you do anything about the bumper bc it looks like it is really restricting air from hitting the fmic, looks like only 1/3 is being hit by air.
