custom sub boxes
agreed with the shipping resins. although i didn't seem to have any troubles when i ordered carbon fiber resins...
anywho, i don't know of any marine supply places down here yet but i just got hooked up with the UTA formula team and they get all kinds of stuff carbon fibered using a autoclave, so i'm sure that place may have the fiberglass stuff at the price i want. also, your right about finding a heavier mat working better. i am right now just using the thin stuff you get at homedepot (easy accessability, being 2 miles from my apartment). the only problem with it is it talks like 10 layers to build a reasonable thinkness, and each layer needs to be sanded properly or else the layer after it will not bond well, and air bubbles form easily. damn i hate this stuff! but once it starts taking shape i feel like a creator! like an artist and it makes it all worth it.
undiestainz, i will keep you informed as to my progress. there are a bunch of local people here interested as well so if i find i can make them in a reasonable amount of time and keep the price reasonable (although at what i'm paying for supplies 200 dollars for a box is as low as i can go. i would like to cut my supplies cost in half and then i could do 150ish per box and be happy), but i will need to do a cost analysis to get a solid price (i just had to buy a new jigsaw as i no longer have access to a full custom wood shop
). the great thing about this box is, because it is nearly entirely fiberglass, it is so much lighter then an MDF box the same size. like i'm talking half the weight.

if this guy makes true sealed boxes for that setup then more power to him. it does look good, and maybe then it would perform well too.
If you want to see my fiberglass sub box just look at my ride in a registry. Click the link in my info below to see. Its much much lighter than a wood box. Took about 30lbs off the weight in my trunk. I think it sounds much better than wood too. It feels like it is part of the car when bass hits. I dunno, its hard to explain.
