Wheel well sub box

I have an 03 lancer oz and want to build a fiberglass sub box in the compartment were the spare tire is supposed to go. I know how to glass and everything(as i live in socal and surf and do my own board repairs). But i was needing some ideas on how it should be done. I know some people have done this. If anyone could send me pics or a really good description of it that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank

Go to Hot Import Nights or SEMA or something to get some ideas. But if you look in my profile, I have pix of mine.

No body kit. I had one on my last car.. it doesn't really do much, just another thing that breaks off in the michigan winters and potholes. They are pretty flimsy too, even when you secure them good. I have enough money in my turbo fund already for the non-IC kit, so I'm going with that next spring.

1. Coat the trunk bottom in aluminum foil
2. Lay some fiberglass matt down and pour resin over it.
3. Repeat step 2 a couple times
4. Remove your mold after it hardens and make the top piece for the sub.

that is a VERY Rough idea of what you need to do. Read some of the how-to's on here but a wheel well sub box isnt that hard.

I like the ones that sit in the spare tire so you can keep your spare too. Those are NICE.

Leave you spare tire in and take the mold using your spare tire. Just build the subwoofer flush into it. Very simple

would the box be sticking up/out? i cant picture how this would look since it seems like most of the box would be visible. how does this set up sound? would there still be access or use to the trunk? i have an evo and was wondering what i could do to keep my spare and still get a custom look. i have a rear strut bar which is making it difficult to come up with a custom design and still save the spare.

all depends on how deep of a sub you get ,get a shallow mount and i bet you can get it close to flush

my enclosure sounds really good.. well, with my ears and my friends ears. lol. You might be different. It gives a good clean bass hit. (that my also just be my subs--polk momo's have tight clear sounding bass) With a fiberglass mold like that, it almost makes the subs feel like they are part of the car, its hard to explain. Try going to a local car show and listen to people's stereo's to get an idea of how it sounds. You can't explain over the interweb.

edit: I also dynamatted the whole trunk, top and bottom, side to side.
