if you want to do all 4 speakers at the same time, that's not much at all, or do you just want to do 2? I only have the front 2 in my car, sound stage is just fine if you're sitting in the front

you may like to get these for the money and just have a good set in the front and do the rear later.

I got Kenwood Excelons (XR-61P) 6.5" components. They swank. Also very affordable (although you might need ~$250 to replace all speakers, and that's stretchin' it).

sorry about that, sometimes I forget I am at work. I work for Crutchfield and I was using the intranet site to grab that link.

anyway it was dor the Polk db-6750 component set we have for $219.99, and if you buy one set you get the next set of polks for 50% off. Great if you are on a budget.

I was checking out the crutchfield catalog and was wondering how the infinity kappas are. Much difference between them and the reference ones?

Was thinking about the alpines too...wish I knew more about these things

The best performance for the money would be either the polk db or the infinity, the Kappas have a little better midbass and alittle smoother tweeter. I would not go for the 3 way in the kappas as the super tweeter reproduces highs that the human ear cannot hear. The alpines are great but too pricey for the performance.

If your set on the kappas which I will eventually get (not sure about front fitment problems?) http://www.etronics.com has them for $119/pair, that price cannot be beat anywhere. I have a set of 6x9s that i had in my old car and absolutely loved them.
