INFO: Easy way to put in component speakers!

Hey! I talked to my dealer about the 2003 Lancer LS 6 speaker system since it has a component set which is what I have to put in my ES...on the liner on the sides of the windshield there is a speaker mount and speaker grill on the LS...since on the ES and OZ you'd have to do custom cutting or boxes which can cost upwards of $200 to install components it would be a lot easier and cheaper to get a pair of those LS liners to install components. I found out from my dealer that the pieces are only $40 apiece ($80 a pair) and include the mounting brackets for standard tweaters! Just thought I'd throw that out there for those who want components without all the extra costs

thanks...something to keep in mind, especially if i end up messing up the install somehow. but i don't see how it would cost $200 to cut a hole in the pillar cover. actually i don't plan on it costing me anything. maybe a bunch of time to cut the whole, mount the bracket, run the tweeter, and put the grille....don't your components come with all that stuff?

yeah they come with the grill but it looks better in a gray interior to have flush natural looking grills than cut black ones starin out at you

Orangebowl, thanks for the info. That's another idea I can add to my growing list of sytem planning.

I'm thinking about putting tweeters in front of the door handle. Should be one of the easiest places to cut and run lines to, but I'll keep the OEM position in mind, thanks.

this is bad for imaging. you want tweeters in front of you, facing you, at ear level, and unobstructed. high frequencies are very directional, so it matters more about placement. the lower you go in the frequency range, the less directional (and less important speaker placement is) you get, with bass being omnidirectional.

That's pretty cool I probably wouldn't put them in the rear though (just my opinion), but it looks good. All good ideas though. A-pillar, mirror cubby, and in front of door handle are good positions as long as the tweeter can be swivelled inward.

I bet those tweeters would look really nice in the a-pillar, grey on grey.
