man for me it was alot better making an amp rack. when i had my amps mounted on the back seat it was a pain in the ***. pulling the carpet up and cutting it wasent worth it to me. there was a big lump under the carpet from the 0 ga power wire. a small amp rack is alot more practical i.m.o..... otherwise i just screwed directly into the metal under the carpet.
also depending on the size of your amp u could mount it on top of a flush mounted wooden block in that little square indention behind your tail light.

ok so screw into the metal bars? Is there wood between the bars? My amp is a little off from the bars when it sits horizontal but vertical it fits nice and snug between but the mounting holes are between the bars, so I was wondering what is between them. I thought of velcro, but if the amp fell off when the seat was up it may damage my amp. I want it secure.

I'm getting mine mounted to my back seat as we speak. I have a 1200w Power Acoustik amp, which is pretty damn long .. so Its gotta be mounted to both. Will prevent me from dropping one side of the rear seat at a time .. but I dont mind. Its convenient and out of the way from the rest of the trunk. Amp should bolt right onto the back of it.

I like the idea bout the velcro ... would need a good sized sheet thou

although it seemed like a good idea at the time it left a bunch of holes in the carpet on the back of my seat plus my amp is really big and would only fit vertical. i thought about doing it across both seats bit i like to roll with the small door down for more bass.
also anyone ever look at the plastic part behind the arm rest? i was thinking about either cutting it out all togther or cutting like a big logo...am i crazy? please let me know. again crusin_lancer if it were me i would do an amp rack mount my amp there with a cap and a distro block. its your car just my 2c.

I want to get as much space out of my trunk as possible but still have my subs, so that ellimnates the amp rack. That is why I'm wanting to put it on my seat and it will fit perfect right on the big seat. But I'm still asking and my question has not been answered, what is between the bars on the back of the seat? Wood? or is it just metal? I have self tapping screws that are 1" long and am wondering if it is wood I can just screw them in if not I'll have to predrill. So my question is again is it wood or metal between that bars on the seats?

because the amp is off just a tad that two of the holes miss the bars about an inch or so... so if I stick it in vertical then all four holes are between the bars and not kinda lopsided
