Any Alarm Systems that you recommend?
I got a Code Alarm with my lancer....absolutely sucks....Stay the HELL away. I can shake the car, push it back and forth....bang on it, pull the door handles, even attempt to pick it up and it doesnt go off. More like an LED light on the dash for "visual security"
the dealer didnt install shyt on my lancer. cheap bastards. since the car doesnt have an engine immobilizer (like the new eclipses and galants), what would be a good alarm for like $200. is Viper any good, or is it so common that any common thief can get around the Viper's engine immobilizer? does clifford got any $200 alarms?
ey also does all lancers come with an VIN etched glass?

well i just installed a carbine in mine and so far it works just fine. it has remote trunk release and everything. i dont have the proximity sensors because over time youll see that they are useless when it comes to cars. if you park your car in a parking lot and leave your windows open then you need to get robbed. and thats the only purpose it really serves. they were made for jeeps so that when you park a jeep you dont have to have the top on. a dual stage shock sensor is just right for cars and trucks. if you set it right if some one tampers with it then it lets off a warning tone. if they keeps messing with it then it sounds the alarm. what more do you want besides someone to just not mess with it. but mine has the door lock/unlock feature which is pretty standard on most alarms now adays. and it auto locks the doors when you start the car. and it cost me only 129.99 localy and some time to install. just to anybody putting one in if you have not thought of it already really cool place for the led is right in the center of the dash. if you look right inbetween the defrost vents there is a little panel that pops right out. put your led there and you can see it from all the way around the car. it really sticks out.
as for the vipers they are good alarms but they are way over priced. there not any better then most good alarms out there.
i do have a ? for anybody out there though. has anyone ever heard of a startech 2000 alarm. i have one for my truck but i havent been able to find one anywhere since the place i bought mine from when under. any info on these alarms please let me know.

Diyath,
Try Clifford. I bought one for my Evo7, works great, has lots of upgrade options, and has a built-in turbo timer so you can arm your car even if the engine is still running coz of the turbo timer.

alarm systems are more trouble than theyre worth, none pays attention when they go off and people at my school tend to be asswipes and set mine off on purpose, and the damn thing NEVER stops. as you can tell ill soon be having it removed

im just getting it removed until i finish school, if someone does break into it, i wouldnt even notice it until the end of the day, then ill have it put back on, the only reason this is possible is cuzmy cousin can do it
Do you know DEI has bought out Clifford about 4 years ago? Currently, DEI has a monopoly on the alarm market. Very few competition, except for Autoloc and many assorted generic radio shack quality alarm.
