i did not know this!!!
ok i wanted to move my cd player to the bottom where the cubby hole is so i was gonna order a kit to put it there but thought i would make it into a project and modify my cubby hole to fit the deck, well whe ni removed the cubby hole there were 4 screw holes i nthe exact same pattern as the ones where the deck comes from the factory i was amazed that my project will be alot easier than i thought. im off friday so i will cut my cubby hole and put it back to make it look better. and as for the hole at the top, im prolly just gonna put a piece of plexiglass and paint it black and put my lancer emblem from my trunk right there, should look decent. what do yall think? or i can go all out and make it look all black then have "lancer" light up blue when car is on. i have no idea yet.
mitsue sells a piece so that the lower half becomes din size, if you searched, you would see that this subjects has been covered a million times

^ hey lookslikeanevo the pic that was on the link you gave him for the mitsu parts store shows a pic of a double din opening. We do not have that in our cars. I think that is what he is referring to. The pic is clearly not our dash.
^that isnt the standard picture, if you took the part number that i liked in the first post and went to a mitsu dealer, you would get the lower din install kit...
sorry the website didnt put the right pic up but thats the part number

^+1, He is correct...I have the same lower din kit, but mine is the grey color that matches the grey ES trim. It is part number MZ598248EX, and it will fit perfectly with your standard DIN sized head unit. No cutting needed and perfect factory fit and finish!

It definately is nice th have the lower din kit so yoiu can read your hu in the sunlight better, but then you have to invest the money in something else to cover the big hole where the hu used to be. I wish there was some sort of cubby hole to go where the hu factory location was then I would get the relocation kit, because fake guages are too cheesy looking for me to sit in the factory hu location, and a big gaping hole in the dash is a no go for me too.
Mitsu makes a blank, black plastic radio delete panel that snaps into the empty din hole in the dash. You can use this panel to mount swtiches, custom guages, etc... I used it to mount my alpine amp controller. Nice fit and finish. You could also buy a universal din pocket, like the ones from the 95-99 double din eclipse. I used to own a 99 eclipse, and the pocket below the radio had screw holes on the side that would allow you to screw it into the lancer radio brackets. That way, you could have a pocket in the top din.
