5 ch amps?
So its been awhile since I've had a system. But I miss it and am looking for something new that would compare to my old system.
My last setup was an Eclipse deck with Boston Pro Series separates, soundstream Referece 750 5 ch amp, and two Reference 10s. The 750 had an internal crossover and it powered all of the speakers in the car and I liked having only one amp alot.
I currently have an Alpine 9855 deck and 1 farad cap. I'm looking for something to give me the same bang the old system did but I am more into fidelity and accoustics than having hard hitting base. I have heard some good things about diamond audio but am open to all suggestions.
Basically if you have a great sounding midrange system with very clear highs that you feel strongly enough about to recommend I would like to hear about. Cash isn't really an issue but I dont need top of the line stuff.
Thanks in advance,
JJ

personally, I would stay away from a 5 channel amp. If one thing goes bad, you gotta replace it all.
My mids and highs are a set of Eclipse 8264's. Not sure if you can still get them. But for not being the highest end set, they do pretty damn good. I have an MTX Thunder 6000 10" sub, powered by some cheap POS amp, sounds decent but could be better.
Yesterday I picked up a PG equalizer, so very soon I'm going to purchase an amp for my fronts (have no rears) and install a MTX Thunder 202 amp for the sub (have it, just have been lacking motivation to install).
If you really want awesome quality get some Focal seperates for the front. Very top-notch.

i have an Eclipse 5442 HU, Diamond D6 61/2" components in front, Diamond M3 61/2" coaxial in rear, Diamond D3400.4 amp for mids/highs, Diamond D3600.1 for the sub, and a Diamond D612D2 12" sub in SubZone ported box, and PG wires .. the combination sounds great, but if there was one thing i could do differant is better rear speakers, the m3 is a very nice speaker, but with the d6 comp. in front, they just dont sound as good.. i was looking for somethin along the same lines as you with a nice sound w/ a sub to just fill in and this setup works perfect for me, and if i want a little more bass i can crank the sub up to 16 (usually keep it on 10) but like tward said i would stay away from the 5ch amp, altho if thats what you, want Diamond also makes a very nice one, but its about the same price as the 2 amps that i have with less wattage.. focals are also an awsome chioce for speakers too, but they were out of my price range
good luck!
good luck!
the guy i go to is a local shop here in connecticut, im pretty sure that diamond will only sell there stuff to autherized dealers, so if you happen to fine somewhere online to buy it, you probably wont get the warrenty(i think its eitiher 2 or 3 years).. you can go to diamondaudio.com and they have a thing where you can put your zip code in and it will find the closest dealer in your area
etronics.com has them. looks like they are $249 w/o shipping.
I have a diamond audio setup and got it from them, I don't know about the warranty but other companys have honored it from products I've gotten off there.
Accually it even says it comes with the warranty.

I have had experience with two 5 channel amps and have liked both the McIntosh and the Soundstream. The Soundstream makes awesome power for such a small power rating, expecially the sufwoofer channel. The McIntosh is just crystal clear and you can play it loud without distortion. The McIntosh won't give you heavy hitting bass, but the full range of music can be heard clearly.
As for speakers, pay for the speaker, not the name. I have a set of Vifa 6.5 separates in my Evo and I am very happy with them. The highs are precise but not overbearing where you would get tired of listening to music after and hour or so. Good lcuk

If you hear Focal separates, and money isnt an issue, you will not want anything else. You claim your more focused on fidelity, then there is nothing IMHO better. They produce full rich music from the lowest of the lows to the highs that extend beyond your hearing. The Focals that i'm used to hearing are the Utopias. Very good but very expensive. Diamond Audio will also give you a pleasurable experience as will MB Quarts if you like VERY bright highs. In my experience, most of the more desirerable components are produced in Europe. So I have always been biased towards Focal, MB Quart, JL Audio (tweeters are made in Europe).
No matter who you choose, please make sure you dont skimp on wires (RCA's and speaker) because they make a hell of a difference in sound. Cheap wires (walmart stuff and Radio Shack stuff) is probably the eqivalent of having 2 inch exhaust piping on your Evo. Dont do it.
