Biggest Box that will fit in 03 Lancer Trunk

I found a box for my two Kicker CVR 12s, only thing it is 37 x 18 x 17 (L x D x H). This will fit fine between the wheel wells of the trunk, but I do not believe that will actually be able to get it into the trunk. I am going to try and mock up a box of the same dimensions to see before i finalize the deal, but does anyone the max size that will fit in the trunk?

I had the H.O. Bandpass W3V2 from JL Audio and it was a pretty dam tight fit in the trunk. Heres the dimensions of it 16.25 in. x 30.50 in. x 14.38 in. As to the box that you are getting, you may have a problem getting it to fit. I wouldn't recomend getting anything thats really hard to get in and out because 1) you'll have barely any trunk space and 2) Spare tire ring a bell...

oh another thing. I hope your not planning on using one big box to hold the two subs. The correct way to do it is to have a peice of MDF in the middle so it acts as two smaller boxes each specifically calculated for the required airspace for the sub. Just a thought

yeah it would be split. I dug out my box i had to fosgate 15s in that was in my Eclipse. it measures 14" h x 32.5" w x 23" d, and it was a pretty tight fit. Also i was worried with such a large box that there would not be enough air to move, thus acutally smothering the subs output. I may just go with a large enclosure for one kicker CVR 12. I was thinking like 2.5-3.0 slot ported. That would be big enough for SPL and still have room in trunk. I mocked it up on WinISD and with 400 watts per two subs in 2.0 ft^3 vs 800 watts on one sub in 2.5 ft^3 they are almost even on an SPL graph.
I had always heard double surface of sub +3db, and double power +3db. I guess this proves that.

i got a pretty big box in there. ported

i only got like 3 inches on the side left before i mounted my amp on it. i don't know if you'll be able to fit that monster in there.

I'll go grab some measurements off the box my room-mate had in his evo. was an extremely tight fit getting it in....

the results are in

33.5 (long) x 14 (deep) x 15 (tall)

fits 3 10's beautifully, not sure if you could make it large enough for your 12's. but this is about as large as a box can fit into the trunk

my box is 38.5 X 14 X 16 (L X W X H) (box alone not counting the out side border). I had to assemble my box inside the car. my box does not come out.

what type of speakers are you using? my biggest concern even if i could get the box in the trunk is if there would be enough airspace for them to play well. i was planning on facing them towards the back of the car. do you experience this problem? Now instead of having one big box, i was going to use two seperate boxes so that it would be easier to fit in the trunk.

i have the perfect air space for my subs. the only reason it took up so much room because of the shape and fiberglass. look at my car domain for pictures. i still have lots of room up front. i just use the max height and lenght of the trunk. i still have about half the trunk space left plus the spare tire area.
