OMFG Rents try to buy me a HEADUNIT!

sooo, It's my birthday today and my rentals bought me a pioneer DEH-P3700MP HU. I'm not complaining and i am stoked i have parents who "try" to go there, it's just i'm not sure they know what's up; and for that matter, neither do i now. I was gonna try and avoid Pioneer and go with an Alpine system, but IDK now.
the skibby is... It's supposed to be installed by BestBuy and has a handy-dandy 2 yr. warrenty. I was thinking, i COULD see what bestbuy had in stock and try to upgrade it to a more "decent" HU for my future subs/amps/speakers that I'll be getting...OR... I can return the loot ($190 spent for HU+ wires+ install+ warrenty) and put the $ towards my turbo fund or N/A add-ons. SO WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!

I think its awesome that ur parents actually went out and tried..

Ofcourse you can't expect them to be well versed in all that stuff, but definatley shows they care.

My parents j/hand me a $50 bill and say happy birthday. I mean i love them for that too, but I wish they'd put a little more into it hehe...

I say go for the audio upgrade. Your parents wanted to buy you a gift and i'm sure they want to see you happy and enjoying it now as opposed to later. youve got awesome parents

My parents f*ckin blew me away on christmas . . got a huge box from RRM with a greddy muffler and resonator in it

As for the audio check up on the options with each headunit and make sure whatever you get has the stuff you want, aux input/output, ipod, sat, etc. goodluck

yea they are pretty sweet and i'm not sure in what direction i want to go with audio right now i was think i am going to put it towards a strut bar or another N/A mod. They would have done the same but i think they are skiddish about ordering car parts from a company of which they have no idea whats going on as far as upgrades are concerned. I told my dad and he said "it's yours and you can do what you want with it so long as it makes you happy"
(sorry for those with bad childhoods ) so we'll see.

This reminds me of the Pioneer my mom got me for graduation. It was some dinky $100. But I loved the hell out of it not only because I didn't have a CD player in the Maxima I installed it in, but my mom actually got something for my car, it was weird. Now I have a whole Pioneer system in my Lan. Front speakers, rear speakers, deck, sub, amp. It's good enough for me.

Do what you want, as long as you tell the rents and you are going to trade it or whatever. You don't want them to think you don't give a crap about their efforts when they find out to sold it and got something better.

Keep it and be happy with it. You didn't have to pay for it.
