Hard Disk MP3 Player In Car

Hey i was thinkin about movin my HU to the bottom cubby
and puttin a tray like cover where the stock HU was, so i could pull out my MP3 player and put it back inside so it is hidden and not exposed to the sun when not in use. you get what im sayin? so just wondering your guys opinon

and any idea on what material i should use to make the cover/tray that covers the stock HU hole?

its an archos jukebox studio
feel free to give me some suggestions

and if anyone has the stock HU cover that the JDM evo7 came with. they can send it to me if they want

In my opinion, fiberglass should do the trick.

The best thing for you to do is make it out of fiberglass. I made a cover for mine using Talc. I dont know what you all call it but here it is called talc (talcum powder). I taped the area out and then poured it in and let it set.

You can see how it turned out from the pics.

Then you should get one of those power antennas, connect it to the tray and bam, with a flick of a switch it will motorize out. and only you will know its there.

Just eBay around for a "single din" cubby, there’s one on there right now, its for a Volvo, but you should be able to modify just about any cars cubby seeing as how their all made to be replaced by a HU. go to the junkyard and search anything late model, I know its blasphemy, but I think Subie Legacy's have just what your looking for.

maybe this can help

used fiberglass and moled the original bottom cover cover it with aluminum foil for safety precaution. then apply some body filling, sand it with fine sandpaper, paint with low gloss paint... [img=http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/531/image00023ug6.th.jpg]

Just get in touch with a Metra electronics dealer and have them order in a single din cover plate. They are only like $5. Used a couple in Mustangs where I used to work, and they look stock. Should be fine for what you are after.
