Rear window ledge rattle...how to fix?

Okay here's the deal.

I've got 2 old 12" Pioneer 450W IMPPs in my box in the trunk. I'm running them off a 500w amp turned up a little less than halfway. The bass sounds good and clean, except for the rattling the car does.

My front doors rattle, but that's not my prime concern. The rear window ledge rattles and it moves up and down. You can actually see the ledge rise and fall. I know some others had trouble with this long ago, but my attempts to find the info via searching has done no good.

How did you remedy this problem? Is there a way to secure the deck so it doesn't bounce around like a superball?

Any input is appricated.

3/8" peice of plywood, cut and contoured to the rear deck, layed in with a layer of Dynamat Original, and some heavy adhesieves, fimrly attached with self tapping screws did the trick for me.

But I'm a freak...

even easier fix...

get some foam shoe inserts, the cheap ones from walmart, and cut it into 3x3 inch sqaures. from under the deck, through the trunk, place the squares into the holes (pics to come).

my rattle is gone, and it only took 5 minutes.

the sugestion by higgity hank is a nice way to solve this. another is to use nearly the same type of foam that is used in surfboards, works great.

coda: nice work on that dynamat buddy! looks really clean

thanks doc

i'm trying to figure out now what's the best way to make a nice clean install on the rear dash, without really blocking or jamming any screw holes.
