Left Front Speaker Cuts Randomly, help!

I have a very bizarre situation with my speaker. The left front speaker will cut out on occasion, nearly always when I lower my window. Sometimes it will be fine with the window down, but mostly it will only work when the window is up. Sometimes it simply won't work at all.

I did just swap headunits, but this was occurring with my previous headunit as well. The speaker was installed by bestbuy, and I'm nearly certain that was my first mistake. My second mistake was leaving it all this time when my favorite thing to do is listen to music with my windows down.

Anyone have any ideas?

Check to make sure the speaker contacts arent touching any metal when the window goes down. There may also be a cut in the wire between the harness to the speaker. I guess the easiest way to do it is to run temp wires from the HU to the speaker to see if it still happens to rule out it being the HU. Since you tried two already Im guessing its not the HU.

^He's right, some times it's just easier running a new string of wire instead of finding out the problem.

Good luck!

Thanks! I asked because I thought this may be quite common and there could be an easy fix. New wires are no problem though; I just soldered in my new hu myself so I'm not worried about being able to do it. I'll take that door apart soon and let everyone know what I find.

If both are the grounding wires, I don't see why not?

best buy

just take off your door panel and it should be pretty easy to find the problem
