2008 Sound Package Specifics
Well, a big part of me buying my 08 GTS was to have a decent (not amazing) sound system that would last me a while. I opted for the Sun & Sound package of course, but there was never much information available to me regarding any of the specifics. I figured "hell, there will probably be specs in the manual," but I never ran across any. So I've decided to make a thread regarding everything that people know about the sound package, seeing as a lot of people will probably choose to upgrade their speakers and what not in the future.
They claim a 650W 9 speaker system including a sub:
2x 1" tweeters in the front
2x 6" midbass speakers on the front doors
2x 6" 2-way fullrange on the rear doors
1 RF 10" sub
650W max 8ch dsp amp under the drivers seat.

Ive been trying as well to dig up more info on the system i found this but its pretty useless.

The one question i had was the Sub in the Trunk Plugs into a 4 wire Jack, Im just guessing here but i asume Left and Right, Power and a Power On/Power Sense wire to turn the sub on? Anyone know for sure. Reason im wondering is if it is that then i could put an amp back there and just have to run a bigger power from the battery back and make use of the power sense wire to turn it on thats allready there.
Also i dont have the sun and sound, but it seems all the wires are all there in the car still, Ive yet to actualy test them for sound and power yet but i will when i get a chance at work to see if there live at all.

If the subwoofer plugs into the amplifier with this jack, it's probably one each positive and negative for each of the two voice-coils on the subwoofer.
The remote-turn on, power, ground, and signal wires only need to make it to the amp.

Ya that makes sense i just wasnt sure if it was on of them self contained powered subs or not. I'll still check them today to see if there is anything on them just to make sure.

Each of the front tweeters is powered by its own amplifier channel with a high-pass filter.
The front midbass drivers are labeled 2 ohm 50 watts.
The rear speakers are labeled 4 ohm 25 watts.
The speakers all use a custom enclosure that has grooves that when twisted, lock the speaker to the door. If you plan on changing out the cabin speakers, you will need to drill holes into the metal door frame and almost certainly need spacers.
A Rockford Fosgate employee told me that the subwoofer's voice coils are each 2 ohms and wired in parellel to present a 1 ohm load to the amplifier. If this is the case, I don't know why it needs 2 channels then. I haven't pulled apart the sub to check on this statement.
Lastly, the Navi unit does not have any RCA preouts.
