Replace stock sub 08 S&S?

Has anyone replaced the stock sub yet? Just wondering if I would notice a difference without swapping out for a new amp???

what size is the sub? I'd probly change it to a Peerless XLS or XXLS driver and see if you like that better.

It is a 10"
I haven't ripped it apart yet, so not even sure what would fit using the stock enclosure. I like how it's small and doesn't really take up much trunk space.

Did you not read what I just wrote? It is a 10" subwoofer. I am 100% correct.
This website is just a f$#cking drama central. Everybody loves to argue rather than try to help each other. I never asked what size it was. I asked if anyone KNOWS of something that fits. I didn't ask what is the best, or what I would buy if money were no object.

easy fellas, im into a lot of audio upgrades andhave noticed that a lot of the time the frame of the sub is diff. sizes. not to much but it would be enough to throw off certain boxes. fosgates if u notice have a really thin, really close frame up by the mounting holes. where as a sub by oh say...pheanix gold tantrum series, will have a lot thicker frame and the cone is farther away from the frame.

its like having an entertainment center that fits a 42'' tv, you have to measure the frame around the tv as well and not just the screen size. the best thing to do is go to ur local stereo shop with ur box(enclosure) empty so they can see wat ur workin with, they'll take care of u from there.

let me start off saying I dont have the s&s package nor have I ever seen the sub out side the box.

that said I will give my experience. The frames of a subwoofer are generally mass manufactured and used through out different companies with little to no changes. Yes measuring is your best bet, but I can almost guarantee you that you can find a sub with the exact same basket to fit your box.

*remember, just be cause your basket is the same doesnt mean anything other then the basket is the same. Your specs are going to be different, magnet will be different sze ect. do your research and youll come out ok. our box looks alot like the pioneer system in the cobalts. I know people have been successfully changing that sub out so maybe that would be a good place to start.

Hope I helped some have fun guys!!

I still say peerless sls 8" driver and build a baffle to make it fit, I guarantee it'll fit that way.

S213SWR3908 21cm 58.25

solen.ca under peerless, that's the US $ price

ok i actually just removedthe rockford sub yesterday......but before i go into that let me tell u an easy way to make it sound better.....take the box out and take the grill and outer rim off..... now just throw the mes grill away its not needed.....ur going to need to grind the parts of the ring that pop out that held the grill on.......now put the ring back on........now turn the box around and ull see the biggest hole in the box and the biggest screw......now the problem here was that screw is screwed into the magnet.....this held the full potential of the sub......take it off and connect the wire and screw the box back into place give the sub some time to stretch out and ull be fine......but if u wanna be better do this.....i took the sub out and putin a 12" infinity reference 1252 series......it bumps hard and runs very well on the stock amp.....but i will be installing a 1000 watt amp today.....
oh and im selling the rockford sub and box to anyone who wants to buy

For those of you who have the 08 s&s package with navi. I plan on getting the evo X, i am pretty sure they are equipped woth the same audio systems. I would like to add a aftermarket sub and amp to the system. I would like to retain the stock navi, rockford amp and speakers. Is there a sub RCA out put OR a sub speaker wire out put from the back of the headunit?? If not, does any one make a cable converter so you can have RCA sub out puts with out going to get an aftermarket headunit and still have the factory amp?? If not have some succesfully rewired the system, incorperating the stock headunit, and factory amplifier and a sub out put?? Note you cannot take the wires out of the factory sub and convert it to an RCA out put (I know it is possible but there is no sound quality this way). I need the signals coming out of the head unit before it enters the factory amp. I also do not want to tap the rear speaker out put because there is not sound quality. I need sub out put signals only. Remote wire is easy just get a add-a-fuse plugin and tap it off an acc circut. I only directing this to 2008 s&s ROCKFORD SYSTEM with navi owners. it know it is possible for the infinity sound system. I would really check it out my self but i dont have the car.

I need to know the same thing red_dragon. I am thinking about replacing the stock amp with some aftermarket amps.

As far as I can tell from pictures, the Navi does not have RCA pre-outs. I am pretty sure I am going to have to splice into the factory harness into the factory amp. The part that I am unsure of is how the navi actually connects to the factory amp. Here's a thread with some of the wiring specs http://lancertuners.com/modules.php?...ewtopic&t=2327. It doesn't appear that there's enough wires to have one for each channel, especially since the navi can test the front tweeters separately from the front woofers (they have their own amp channel). That should be 14 wires. Sometime soon I am going to actually check the harnesses attached to the amp.

Since you haven't gotten the system yet I would recommend buying all aftermarket stuff. The navi unit is pretty good overall but not worth this hassle.

Well i not an engineer yet, so that diagram does not really help me much. each line represents a bundle of wires. you should take a pic of the amp showing the wires and post it up.
