Securing the Sub

Hey guys...I have just installed a single 12" Kicker L7 with an ALPINE MRD-300 mono amp. I am looking for ideas on how to secure the subwoofer so that it doesn't move around during hard turns...or fast acceleration and braking. I would rather not have a 30 lbs. box bouncing around in the trunk breaking everything...thanks!

i had a problem like this too....i tried taping it down temporarily, but i have it sitting in the corner of my trunk, i turned and it just tipped over and brought the carpet with it. i don't see this happening if it's in the middle, but if it's on the side it just doesn't do any good. so i said **** it and let it slide a little. i was thinking i could screw it down, but then it would be a pain to take out if i needed to get at the spare or jack. but if it's in the middle velco should do the trick.

the reason i have it off to the side is for trunk space, since i often have my hockey sticks/bag in the trunk. otherwise i'd just set it up different.

a simple metal bracket would solve your problem

my subs /box are about 95-100 lbs i mean heavy velcro isnt an option for me plus velcro isnt good enough for the insurance companies it has to be Permanently mounted to be covered.
im still looking for a mounting surface.
its a bandpass box 3/4 inch hdfb very expensive probably overkill
but oh well i had the money...

How about cutting a piece of half inch plywood, and screwing it under the trunk quarter inch floor. Then use L clips on the box and screw through the floor, and through the plywood. Then just carry a screwdriver in your trunk just incase you need to take it out.

Velcro would be a good solution for someone who isnt all for the whole show-look. Making a custom box that sits flush in the trunk would be a good solution for a nice clean look in my opinion.

Hey I do have the single subzone box for the L7....it slid around like a ***** until i came up with the idea of taking one of those ratcheting harness and wrapped it around the base of the box...ran it through the gray carpeted plastic wall that lines the back of the seat...then around the supporting cross member base directly behind it...you can get the harness so tight with the ratcheting thing that the box can go anywhere it all...or even come undone....perftect! and costs 8 bucks! And take 5 seconds to undo and take the box out. I'll try to get some pictures up soon. Purdue Engineering at work...lol j/k

I got the subzone L7 vented 12" box, aprox. 70lbs. My problem is when I turn hard the box takes the trunk carpet with it.
