Im planning on getting a W7 with a JL amp 1000 wats just to the sub.. I hear this **** hits very loud? anyone kno anything bout them?

 

The JL W7 is nice, as are the JL amps, but they're overpriced. You can get performance on par with, or better than JL's performance for about half the cost.

As for amps, there are a lot of amps that will produce 1000+ watts in the sub-$300 range.
JBL BP1200.1
Lanzar Opti 1200D
Planet Audio 1200d
etc. etc.

Personally, I'd look around before I settled on the JL, it's a nice unit but it holds a few serious disadvantages. Price being the major player. Then just a few nit picky things... like mounting, voice coil configurations, etc.

 

The JL Audio W7 series is NUTS I have heard the 10's,12's, and 15's and I am very impressed. The amps are true power amps meaning they put out EXACTALLY what they are rated and they don't suck down battery power making your lights dim and such. GOOD CHOICE!!!

 

I have a 12W7 running off of an Xtant X1001. For me, it was the best choice. I seriously considered the JL amp, but I was able to get a great deal on three Xtants. If I had to buy again, I would still get the W7, which is the best compliment I can make. Someone has to make the shameless plug for JL since every post on the W7 one or two people try to steer buyers away from them. For me, price was not a deterrent(after all, I have an EVO, if I was concerned with price I would have bought an SRT-4), and the mounting thing is way overplayed by W7 haters. You will not be unhappy with a W7, and in my case, I am more happy with it than anything else I could have bought easily within 50 miles.

Get it and match it with a JL amp if you can afford it their subwoofer EQ is not to be messed with. I do not recommend you get a 13W7 though if that is what you were thinking 1 12W7 on a 1000/1 should be more than loud enough.

 

there is no 15W7, there are only 10w7, 12w7 and 13.5w7

 

The JL is still the only "high output" sub designed for sealed enclosures. Most all other "SPL" woofers are designed for large ported enclosures. Keep in mind that the JL is very deep and will require rectangular boxes with the woofer on the short plane.

 

the W7 isn't an SPL woofer. its designed more for SQ but gets loud too.
