"Best" is subjective. I would say to read some reviews online and on here and find something that suits your needs and budget. If all you need is a mono sub amp then look for one. Every persons likes and perceptions of quality in both sound and build are going to be different. I would suggest researching first and then asking on here what people think if what you think you may want to buy.

Go with either Jl Audio 500/1 or Arc 1500dr. I have both, but am currently running the 500/1 in my evo with a single 12w7. Trust me that amp in enough!!! It will make your heart stop!!! Seriouly Plus its a Class D which is very efficient, compact and less strain on your electrical system. If you were local I would give you a demo

Alpine has a new amp that is powerful, and small... I have a 12w7 and a 1000/1, (also 450/4) and am considering selling for the new alpine line up. the new amps are sweet, PLUS small. (lighter) PDX 1000.1, thats the model #- check out crutchfield online!!

I have a 500/1 hooked up to a diamond D6/10, seems like the amp is a bit much for the sub but it is the loudest single 10 inch sub I have heard so far

I have an Alpine Type-X SWX-1042D 10" Dual 4-ohm (500 WRMS per coil) on a vented box driven by a MB Quart QAA1000 (1000 WRMS@2 ohms), what a killer combination! I tried a 600W RMS Class-D Alpine amp but it barely moved the sub, so I upgraded it to the MB Quart. I'd suggest that you listen to some amps before buying.

You could get two seperate amps for each sub if you really need to. You could put a 500 on each speaker. A w7 should be able to handle it.
