8" w3 jl in the stock sub box?

Hello, I am in no way a audio guy. And what I wanted to know was, I have a 8" w3 jl sub and was going to put it in the stock infinity sub box, would it sound ok in there? I have a good 5 channel amp I was going to supply the 4 speakers with and the sub with. I didnt know if it was even worth putting the jl in there or not. I wanted to put it in there for the ease of fitment and the fact the stock box does not take up much trunk space. Thanks for the help-

Check the available depth of the SSL enclosure. I've never had one in my hands. From what I've heard, it's very shallow. In terms of the enclosure's volume, the W3 might work OK with some poly in the box.

I don't even think a regular depth 8" will fit.

the best way to possibly fit a regular sub is to build a spacer-
i did it before using an mdf ring and painting it black.

I just threw a 10" w1 in my ssl box, it required 2 3/4" thick mdf rings and the box need to be trimmed on the sides and inside a little . Sounds decent for a single 10" woofer, I get barely any bass at highway speeds, thats mainly because mine's an rs and I have no sound deadning anywhere.

It's a problem in all Evos; the car's (own) low frequency content dominates the sub. It can be overcome to some extent with careful tuning, equipment selection, and the install itself. You'd be better off building an enclosure where a driver has a chance to breath, or using a more suitable woofer. JL recommends a box more than twice the volume of the SSL enclosure.
