that head unit puts out 50x4, which is plenty for your basic speakers. a head unit doesn't "handle" any power, meaning no power is coming in (except from the battery).

when looking at speakers, how much they can handle really means nothing about how loud they'll sound (like 180 watt speakers means next to nothing, thought they advertise it to attract the unknowing). spl measures their loudness, but not their quality. always listen to a speaker first, or at least know the brand of structure style.

in short, running of the 7500 (or any other hu really) they'll sound fine. on my pioneer 6500 i can crank mine up to level 50 (out of 60) with no distorsion. i've never had the need to go higher, and 40 is as loud as i usually go.

SPEAKER SIZE IS 6 3/4!

don't let anyone tell you otherwise. one of the biggest problems is speaker DEPTH! you have 2 1/2 in the front doors, any deeper will hit the windows. some 6 1/2 will work, but you'll need adaptor plates (which pioneers come with). and another FYI. don't listen to crutchfield on sizes either. they've been off too many times and given me too many headaches.

the psp is the performance service plan. employees get these at ridiculously low rates. basically, it'll cover speakers for 2 years, amps for 3, hu for 4. pretty much, if anything goes wrong, its covered. get them on everything (discounted rate only).

regular speakers like the ts-a1680r will drop right in the factory holes. components have outboard crossovers, and seperate tweeters that will need to be custom mounted (drilling, cutting, sanding, taping, etc), and most components should be amped (not run off the hu).

i'm going to install my ts-a1680r in my front doors either today or tomorrow, and will post a complete how to front door speaker and dynamat installation. with that, you should be able to do your whole system, save some money for other audio stuff, and have the satisfaction of saying you did it.

hope this cleared some things up.

So I can get front and rear 6 3/4 speakers with built in tweeters, I just have to make sure that the depth for the front speakers is not more than 2 1/2 inches. What I'm gonna do then is buy the 4 speakers, Head Unit, and a harness for install. Probably the Pioneer DEH-P8500MP (if they have it at Best Buy) I like the look of it. Would I have to dynomatt the front and rear space by the speakers?? Im guessing not. I would then only need an amp if Im buying a sub box right??

That should give me a descent amount of bass right (I mean without the box). I might just get the amp and box if I dont buy the Clifford Alarm. But I think the alarm is more important for now though.

yep. front and rear 6 3/4 will work perfectly, 2 1/5 inch depth max.
if you like the 8500, go for it, it is a sweet deck.

i'd recommend dynamating the whole door, and the whole rear deck, not directly behind the speakers, more around it on the panel you mount the speakers on. i'll have pics for this soon.

lastly, to add the bass later, you'll need an amp, a sub, sub box, and an amp kit (ground wire, battery wire, remote lead wire and rca cable).

oh, one more thing you will need for the installs. zip ties. those things REALLY come in handy.

yeah, you'll have sufficiently decent bass with better speakers and a better hu. save the money and go with the alarm.

why would anyone at best buy wanna jip you money? I work there and i don't know anyone like that, besides we are non-commission so it would make no sense to push crap that you don't need.

By offering the most expensive items. Dont forget, even though you dont get commision, the department has monthly quotas to make.

I never push anything in my department because I would never want to be treated like that if I was shopping. I tell them what I think and let them decide seems to work and I am the #1 partime sales person in our department, doing better than most full timers too.

on a side note, does anyone know of what the Impedance on a woofer is for? I know it is for the amps, but what exactly is it there for? I am wondering because I want to run 2 150 watt 12" woofers and I was looking at amps, and they all ways have specs like

Continuous Power: 50Wx4 (4 Ohms), 65Wx4
(2 Ohms), 130Wx2 (4 Ohms)

Peak Music Power: 520 Watts

If both of my subs are rated at 4 ohms, is there anyway I can go lower than that or higher to get more wattage? thanks.
