Thumbs down What speakers??

Ok, so I go to try and install my speakers tonight and I find that the holes are too damn big. I've got here a set of Infinity components and Infinity 2 ways for the rear, both in 6.5". Anyway to make them fit? If not, what are my options?

Not sure, but I thought I've seen threads on this that say there are adapters that you can use. Good luck, I'm wanting to get the same speakers.

If no adapter came with your speakers, buy a thin sheet of wood and cut it the size you need.

Just for future reference, the Lancer's speaker size is an "Oversized 6½" or in other words, it's a 6¾. Some 6½ speakers come with a ring adapter that allows it to fit in the 6¾ hole size.

yep just call crutchfield you can order some thru them and also get the harness adapters so you dont have to splice or tap into your speaker leads

i ghetto-rigged mine... i used zip-ties. 3 for each rear speaker. just looped it around through the hole in the speaker to the hole in the rear deck in 3 different holes. works fine as long as the zip-ties are real tight.

i have infinity's, they do not fit, and neither do the adapters that they come with lol.....what i did was i assembled the woofer and then drilled holes into the top deck and just used sheet metal screws with the clips they give you. it will never move, and i installed my tweeters in my cubby hole up front and on the pillars on the back. sounds insane bro, good choice with infinity, i hope you got kappa subs too??

Well, I am a little iffy on jury rigging as I have a 4 channel for these speakers as well as a sub in the trunk. I called up Crutchfield and they have adapters for $36 including shipping. As far as the sub goes, I got an Alpine Type-R sub to go with my Alpine amps.

I took my car down to a local shop and asked if they had adapters. They did and tried to get them to fit. No dice. This is really starting to **** me off. I don't own tools to make a wood cutout and nobody I know does either and I don't wantto pay the ridiculous amount of money the shops want to mount the speakers. Any other options that you guys know about? This is pretty ****ed up IMO that a car manufacturer will put odd-sized speakers into their cars. What do they want? People NOT to have kickass sounding and kickass looking cars which amounts to free advertising?

grrrrrr....

I used a dremel. It took like 45 minutes to trace and cut 4. Not difficult at all. Not exactly clean looking, but nobody's takin' off my doors anyway.

See?

Hell, I cut apart the OEM speakers and used the outer ring part as an adapter to mount my Alpine 6.5" speakers. Workes great for me.
